The Book of Job, Chapter 24איוב 24

מַדּ֗וּעַ מִ֭שַּׁדַּי לֹא נִצְפְּנ֣וּ עִתִּ֑ים וידעו וְ֝יֹדְעָ֗יו לֹא חָ֥זוּ יָמָֽיו

Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days?

גְּבֻל֥וֹת יַשִּׂ֑יגוּ עֵ֥דֶר גָּ֝זְל֗וּ וַיִּרְעֽוּ

remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed .

חֲמ֣וֹר יְתוֹמִ֣ים יִנְהָ֑גוּ יַ֝חְבְּל֗וּ שׁ֣וֹר אַלְמָנָֽה

They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge.

יַטּ֣וּ אֶבְיוֹנִ֣ים מִדָּ֑רֶךְ יַ֥חַד חֻ֝בְּא֗וּ עֲנִיֵּי אָֽרֶץ

They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.

הֵ֤ן פְּרָאִ֨ים בַּֽמִּדְבָּ֗ר יָצְא֣וּ בְּ֭פָעֳלָם מְשַׁחֲרֵ֣י לַטָּ֑רֶף עֲרָבָ֥ה ל֥וֹ לֶ֝֗חֶם לַנְּעָרִֽים

Behold, wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness food for them for children.

בַּ֭שָּׂדֶה בְּלִיל֣וֹ יקצירו יִקְצ֑וֹרוּ וְכֶ֖רֶם רָשָׁ֣ע יְלַקֵּֽשׁוּ

They reap his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked.

עָר֣וֹם יָ֭לִינוּ מִבְּלִ֣י לְב֑וּשׁ וְאֵ֥ין כְּ֝ס֗וּת בַּקָּרָֽה

They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that no covering in the cold.

מִזֶּ֣רֶם הָרִ֣ים יִרְטָ֑בוּ וּֽמִבְּלִ֥י מַ֝חְסֶ֗ה חִבְּקוּ צֽוּר

They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.

יִ֭גְזְלוּ מִשֹּׁ֣ד יָת֑וֹם וְֽעַל עָנִ֥י יַחְבֹּֽלוּ

They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor.

עָר֣וֹם הִ֭לְּכוּ בְּלִ֣י לְב֑וּשׁ וּ֝רְעֵבִ֗ים נָ֣שְׂאוּ עֹֽמֶר

They cause to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf the hungry;

בֵּין שׁוּרֹתָ֥ם יַצְהִ֑ירוּ יְקָבִ֥ים דָּ֝רְכ֗וּ וַיִּצְמָֽאוּ

make oil within their walls, tread winepresses, and suffer thirst.

מֵ֘עִ֤יר מְתִ֨ים יִנְאָ֗קוּ וְנֶֽפֶשׁ חֲלָלִ֥ים תְּשַׁוֵּ֑עַ וֶ֝אֱל֗וֹהַּ לֹא יָשִׂ֥ים תִּפְלָֽה

Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly .

הֵ֤מָּה הָיוּ֮ בְּֽמֹרְדֵ֫י א֥וֹר לֹֽא הִכִּ֥ירוּ דְרָכָ֑יו וְלֹ֥א יָ֝שְׁב֗וּ בִּנְתִיבֹתָֽיו

They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.

לָא֡וֹר יָ֘ק֤וּם רוֹצֵ֗חַ יִֽקְטָל עָנִ֥י וְאֶבְי֑וֹן וּ֝בַלַּ֗יְלָה יְהִ֣י כַגַּנָּֽב

The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.

וְעֵ֤ין נֹאֵ֨ף שָׁ֤מְרָֽה נֶ֣שֶׁף לֵ֭אמֹר לֹא תְשׁוּרֵ֣נִי עָ֑יִן וְסֵ֖תֶר פָּנִ֣ים יָשִֽׂים

The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth face.

חָתַ֥ר בַּחֹ֗שֶׁךְ בָּ֫תִּ֥ים יוֹמָ֥ם חִתְּמוּ לָ֗מוֹ לֹא יָ֥דְעוּ אֽוֹר

In the dark they dig through houses, they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light.

כִּ֤י יַחְדָּ֨ו בֹּ֣קֶר לָ֣מוֹ צַלְמָ֑וֶת כִּֽי יַ֝כִּ֗יר בַּלְה֥וֹת צַלְמָֽוֶת

For the morning to them even as the shadow of death: if know the terrors of the shadow of death.

קַֽל ה֤וּא עַל פְּנֵי מַ֗יִם תְּקֻלַּ֣ל חֶלְקָתָ֣ם בָּאָ֑רֶץ לֹֽא יִ֝פְנֶה דֶּ֣רֶךְ כְּרָמִֽים

He swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards.

צִיָּ֤ה גַם חֹ֗ם יִגְזְל֥וּ מֵֽימֵי שֶׁ֗לֶג שְׁא֣וֹל חָטָֽאוּ

Drought and heat consume the snow waters: the grave have sinned.

יִשְׁכָּ֘חֵ֤הוּ רֶ֨חֶם מְתָ֘ק֤וֹ רִמָּ֗ה ע֥וֹד לֹֽא יִזָּכֵ֑ר וַתִּשָּׁבֵ֖ר כָּעֵ֣ץ עַוְלָֽה

The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.

רֹעֶ֣ה עֲ֭קָרָה לֹ֣א תֵלֵ֑ד וְ֝אַלְמָנָ֗ה לֹ֣א יְיֵטִֽיב

He evil entreateth the barren beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow.

וּמָשַׁ֣ךְ אַבִּירִ֣ים בְּכֹח֑וֹ יָ֝ק֗וּם וְֽלֹא יַאֲמִ֥ין בַּֽחַיִּֽין

He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no is sure of life.

יִתֶּן ל֣וֹ לָ֭בֶטַח וְיִשָּׁעֵ֑ן וְ֝עֵינֵ֗יהוּ עַל דַּרְכֵיהֶֽם

it be given him in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes upon their ways.

ר֤וֹמּוּ מְּעַ֨ט וְֽאֵינֶ֗נּוּ וְֽהֻמְּכ֗וּ כַּכֹּ֥ל יִקָּפְצ֑וּן וּכְרֹ֖אשׁ שִׁבֹּ֣לֶת יִמָּֽלוּ

They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all , and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.

וְאִם לֹ֣א אֵ֭פוֹ מִ֣י יַכְזִיבֵ֑נִי וְיָשֵׂ֥ם לְ֝אַ֗ל מִלָּתִֽי

And if not now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
