The Book of Psalms, Chapter 119תהלים 119

אַשְׁרֵ֥י תְמִֽימֵי דָ֑רֶךְ הַֽ֝הֹלְכִ֗ים בְּתוֹרַ֥ת יְהוָֽה

ALEPH. Blessed the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of YHWH.

אַ֭שְׁרֵי נֹצְרֵ֥י עֵדֹתָ֗יו בְּכָל לֵ֥ב יִדְרְשֽׁוּהוּ

Blessed they that keep his testimonies, seek him with the whole heart.

אַ֭ף לֹֽא פָעֲל֣וּ עַוְלָ֑ה בִּדְרָכָ֥יו הָלָֽכוּ

They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.

אַ֭תָּה צִוִּ֥יתָה פִקֻּדֶ֗יךָ לִשְׁמֹ֥ר מְאֹֽד

You have commanded to keep your precepts diligently.

אַ֭חֲלַי יִכֹּ֥נוּ דְרָכָ֗י לִשְׁמֹ֥ר חֻקֶּֽיךָ

O that my ways were directed to keep your statutes!

אָ֥ז לֹא אֵב֑וֹשׁ בְּ֝הַבִּיטִ֗י אֶל כָּל מִצְוֺתֶֽיךָ

Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect to all your commandments.

א֭וֹדְךָ בְּיֹ֣שֶׁר לֵבָ֑ב בְּ֝לָמְדִ֗י מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י צִדְקֶֽךָ

I will praise you with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned your righteous judgments.

אֶת חֻקֶּ֥יךָ אֶשְׁמֹ֑ר אַֽל תַּעַזְבֵ֥נִי עַד מְאֹֽד

I will keep your statutes: O forsake me not utterly.

בַּמֶּ֣ה יְזַכֶּה נַּ֭עַר אֶת אָרְח֑וֹ לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ

BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed according to your word.

בְּכָל לִבִּ֥י דְרַשְׁתִּ֑יךָ אַל תַּ֝שְׁגֵּ֗נִי מִמִּצְוֺתֶֽיךָ

With my whole heart have I sought you: O let me not wander from your commandments.

בְּ֭לִבִּי צָפַ֣נְתִּי אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ לְ֝מַ֗עַן לֹ֣א אֶֽחֱטָא לָֽךְ

Your word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against you.

בָּר֖וּךְ אַתָּ֥ה יְהוָ֗ה לַמְּדֵ֥נִי חֻקֶּֽיךָ

Blessed you, O YHWH: teach me your statutes.

בִּשְׂפָתַ֥י סִפַּ֑רְתִּי כֹּ֝֗ל מִשְׁפְּטֵי פִֽיךָ

With my lips have I declared all the judgments of your mouth.

בְּדֶ֖רֶךְ עֵדְוֺתֶ֥יךָ שַׂ֗שְׂתִּי כְּעַ֣ל כָּל הֽוֹן

I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies, as in all riches.

בְּפִקֻּדֶ֥יךָ אָשִׂ֑יחָה וְ֝אַבִּ֗יטָה אֹרְחֹתֶֽיךָ

I will meditate in your precepts, and have respect to your ways.

בְּחֻקֹּתֶ֥יךָ אֶֽשְׁתַּעֲשָׁ֑ע לֹ֭א אֶשְׁכַּ֣ח דְּבָרֶֽךָ

I will delight myself in your statutes: I will not forget your word.

גְּמֹ֖ל עַֽל עַבְדְּךָ֥ אֶֽחְיֶ֗ה וְאֶשְׁמְרָ֥ה דְבָרֶֽךָ

GIMEL. Deal bountifully with your servant, I may live, and keep your word.

גַּל עֵינַ֥י וְאַבִּ֑יטָה נִ֝פְלָא֗וֹת מִתּוֹרָתֶֽךָ

Open you mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.

גֵּ֣ר אָנֹכִ֣י בָאָ֑רֶץ אַל תַּסְתֵּ֥ר מִ֝מֶּ֗נִּי מִצְוֺתֶֽיךָ

I a stranger in the earth: hide not your commandments from me.

גָּרְסָ֣ה נַפְשִׁ֣י לְתַאֲבָ֑ה אֶֽל מִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ בְכָל עֵֽת

My soul breaketh for the longing to your judgments at all times.

גָּ֭עַרְתָּ זֵדִ֣ים אֲרוּרִ֑ים הַ֝שֹּׁגִים מִמִּצְוֺתֶֽיךָ

You have rebuked the proud cursed, which do err from your commandments.

גַּ֣ל מֵֽ֭עָלַי חֶרְפָּ֣ה וָב֑וּז כִּ֖י עֵדֹתֶ֣יךָ נָצָֽרְתִּי

Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept your testimonies.

גַּ֤ם יָֽשְׁב֣וּ שָׂ֭רִים בִּ֣י נִדְבָּ֑רוּ עַ֝בְדְּךָ֗ יָשִׂ֥יחַ בְּחֻקֶּֽיךָ

Princes also did sit speak against me: your servant did meditate in your statutes.

גַּֽם עֵ֭דֹתֶיךָ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָ֗י אַנְשֵׁ֥י עֲצָתִֽי

Your testimonies also my delight my counsellors.

דָּֽבְקָ֣ה לֶעָפָ֣ר נַפְשִׁ֑י חַ֝יֵּ֗נִי כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ

DALETH. My soul cleaveth to the dust: quicken you me according to your word.

דְּרָכַ֣י סִ֭פַּרְתִּי וַֽתַּעֲנֵ֗נִי לַמְּדֵ֥נִי חֻקֶּֽיךָ

I have declared my ways, and you heardest me: teach me your statutes.

דֶּֽרֶךְ פִּקּוּדֶ֥יךָ הֲבִינֵ֑נִי וְ֝אָשִׂ֗יחָה בְּנִפְלְאוֹתֶֽיךָ

Make me to understand the way of your precepts: so shall I talk of your wondrous works.

דָּלְפָ֣ה נַ֭פְשִׁי מִתּוּגָ֑ה קַ֝יְּמֵ֗נִי כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ

My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen you me according to your word.

דֶּֽרֶךְ שֶׁ֭קֶר הָסֵ֣ר מִמֶּ֑נִּי וְֽתוֹרָתְךָ֥ חָנֵּֽנִי

Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me your law graciously.

דֶּֽרֶךְ אֱמוּנָ֥ה בָחָ֑רְתִּי מִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ שִׁוִּֽיתִי

I have chosen the way of truth: your judgments have I laid .

דָּבַ֥קְתִּי בְעֵֽדְוֺתֶ֑יךָ יְ֝הוָ֗ה אַל תְּבִישֵֽׁנִי

I have stuck to your testimonies: O YHWH, put me not to shame.

דֶּֽרֶךְ מִצְוֺתֶ֥יךָ אָר֑וּץ כִּ֖י תַרְחִ֣יב לִבִּֽי

I will run the way of your commandments, when you shall enlarge my heart.

הוֹרֵ֣נִי יְ֭הוָה דֶּ֥רֶךְ חֻקֶּ֗יךָ וְאֶצְּרֶ֥נָּה עֵֽקֶב

HE. Teach me, O YHWH, the way of your statutes; and I shall keep it the end.

הֲ֭בִינֵנִי וְאֶצְּרָ֥ה תֽוֹרָתֶ֗ךָ וְאֶשְׁמְרֶ֥נָּה בְכָל לֵֽב

Give me understanding, and I shall keep your law; yea, I shall observe it with whole heart.

הַ֭דְרִיכֵנִי בִּנְתִ֣יב מִצְוֺתֶ֑יךָ כִּי ב֥וֹ חָפָֽצְתִּי

Make me to go in the path of your commandments; for therein do I delight.

הַט לִ֭בִּי אֶל עֵדְוֺתֶ֗יךָ וְאַ֣ל אֶל בָּֽצַע

Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to covetousness.

הַעֲבֵ֣ר עֵ֭ינַי מֵרְא֣וֹת שָׁ֑וְא בִּדְרָכֶ֥ךָ חַיֵּֽנִי

Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; quicken you me in your way.

הָקֵ֣ם לְ֭עַבְדְּךָ אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ אֲ֝שֶׁ֗ר לְיִרְאָתֶֽךָ

Stablish your word to your servant, who to your fear.

הַעֲבֵ֣ר חֶ֭רְפָּתִי אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָגֹ֑רְתִּי כִּ֖י מִשְׁפָּטֶ֣יךָ טוֹבִֽים

Turn away my reproach which I fear: for your judgments good.

הִ֭נֵּה תָּאַ֣בְתִּי לְפִקֻּדֶ֑יךָ בְּצִדְקָתְךָ֥ חַיֵּֽנִי

Behold, I have longed after your precepts: quicken me in your righteousness.

וִֽיבֹאֻ֣נִי חֲסָדֶ֣ךָ יְהוָ֑ה תְּ֝שֽׁוּעָתְךָ֗ כְּאִמְרָתֶֽךָ

VAU. Let your mercies come also to me, O YHWH, your salvation, according to your word.

וְאֶֽעֱנֶ֣ה חֹרְפִ֣י דָבָ֑ר כִּֽי בָ֝טַחְתִּי בִּדְבָרֶֽךָ

So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in your word.

וְֽאַל תַּצֵּ֬ל מִפִּ֣י דְבַר אֱמֶ֣ת עַד מְאֹ֑ד כִּ֖י לְמִשְׁפָּטֶ֣ךָ יִחָֽלְתִּי

And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in your judgments.

וְאֶשְׁמְרָ֖ה תוֹרָתְךָ֥ תָמִ֗יד לְעוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד

So shall I keep your law continually for ever and ever.

וְאֶתְהַלְּכָ֥ה בָרְחָבָ֑ה כִּ֖י פִקֻּדֶ֣יךָ דָרָֽשְׁתִּי

And I will walk at liberty: for I seek your precepts.

וַאֲדַבְּרָ֣ה בְ֭עֵדֹתֶיךָ נֶ֥גֶד מְלָכִ֗ים וְלֹ֣א אֵבֽוֹשׁ

I will speak of your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

וְאֶשְׁתַּֽעֲשַׁ֥ע בְּמִצְוֺתֶ֗יךָ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָהָֽבְתִּי

And I will delight myself in your commandments, which I have loved.

וְאֶשָּֽׂא כַפַּ֗י אֶֽל מִ֭צְוֺתֶיךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהָ֗בְתִּי וְאָשִׂ֥יחָה בְחֻקֶּֽיךָ

My hands also will I lift up to your commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in your statutes.

זְכֹר דָּבָ֥ר לְעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ עַ֝֗ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִֽחַלְתָּֽנִי

ZAIN. Remember the word to your servant, upon which you have caused me to hope.

זֹ֣את נֶחָמָתִ֣י בְעָנְיִ֑י כִּ֖י אִמְרָתְךָ֣ חִיָּֽתְנִי

This my comfort in my affliction: for your word has quickened me.

זֵ֭דִים הֱלִיצֻ֣נִי עַד מְאֹ֑ד מִ֝תּֽוֹרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א נָטִֽיתִי

The proud have had me greatly in derision: have I not declined from your law.

זָ֘כַ֤רְתִּי מִשְׁפָּטֶ֖יךָ מֵעוֹלָ֥ם יְהוָ֗ה וָֽאֶתְנֶחָֽם

I remembered your judgments of old, O YHWH; and have comforted myself.

זַלְעָפָ֣ה אֲ֭חָזַתְנִי מֵרְשָׁעִ֑ים עֹ֝זְבֵ֗י תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ

Horror has taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake your law.

זְ֭מִרוֹת הָֽיוּ לִ֥י חֻקֶּ֗יךָ בְּבֵ֣ית מְגוּרָֽי

Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

זָ֘כַ֤רְתִּי בַלַּ֣יְלָה שִׁמְךָ֣ יְהוָ֑ה וָֽ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ

I have remembered your name, O YHWH, in the night, and have kept your law.

זֹ֥את הָֽיְתָה לִּ֑י כִּ֖י פִקֻּדֶ֣יךָ נָצָֽרְתִּי

This I had, because I kept your precepts.

חֶלְקִ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אָמַ֗רְתִּי לִשְׁמֹ֥ר דְּבָרֶֽיךָ

CHETH. my portion, O YHWH: I have said that I would keep your words.

חִלִּ֣יתִי פָנֶ֣יךָ בְכָל לֵ֑ב חָ֝נֵּ֗נִי כְּאִמְרָתֶֽךָ

I intreated your favour with whole heart: be merciful to me according to your word.

חִשַּׁ֥בְתִּי דְרָכָ֑י וָאָשִׁ֥יבָה רַ֝גְלַ֗י אֶל עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ

I thought on my ways, and turned my feet to your testimonies.

חַ֭שְׁתִּי וְלֹ֣א הִתְמַהְמָ֑הְתִּי לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר מִצְוֺתֶֽיךָ

I made haste, and delayed not to keep your commandments.

חֶבְלֵ֣י רְשָׁעִ֣ים עִוְּדֻ֑נִי תּֽ֝וֹרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי

The bands of the wicked have robbed me: I have not forgotten your law.

חֲצֽוֹת לַ֗יְלָה אָ֭קוּם לְהוֹד֣וֹת לָ֑ךְ עַ֝֗ל מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י צִדְקֶֽךָ

At midnight I will rise to give thanks to you because of your righteous judgments.

חָבֵ֣ר אָ֭נִי לְכָל אֲשֶׁ֣ר יְרֵא֑וּךָ וּ֝לְשֹׁמְרֵ֗י פִּקּוּדֶֽיךָ

I a companion of all that fear you, and of them that keep your precepts.

חַסְדְּךָ֣ יְ֭הוָה מָלְאָ֥ה הָאָ֗רֶץ חֻקֶּ֥יךָ לַמְּדֵֽנִי

The earth, O YHWH, is full of your mercy: teach me your statutes.

ט֭וֹב עָשִׂ֣יתָ עִֽם עַבְדְּךָ֑ יְ֝הוָ֗ה כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ

TETH. You have dealt well with your servant, O YHWH, according to your word.

ט֤וּב טַ֣עַם וָדַ֣עַת לַמְּדֵ֑נִי כִּ֖י בְמִצְוֺתֶ֣יךָ הֶאֱמָֽנְתִּי

Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed your commandments.

טֶ֣רֶם אֶ֭עֱנֶה אֲנִ֣י שֹׁגֵ֑ג וְ֝עַתָּ֗ה אִמְרָתְךָ֥ שָׁמָֽרְתִּי

Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept your word.

טוֹב אַתָּ֥ה וּמֵטִ֗יב לַמְּדֵ֥נִי חֻקֶּֽיךָ

You good, and doest good; teach me your statutes.

טָפְל֬וּ עָלַ֣י שֶׁ֣קֶר זֵדִ֑ים אֲ֝נִ֗י בְּכָל לֵ֤ב אֱצֹּ֬ר פִּקּוּדֶֽיךָ

The proud have forged a lie against me: I will keep your precepts with whole heart.

טָפַ֣שׁ כַּחֵ֣לֶב לִבָּ֑ם אֲ֝נִ֗י תּוֹרָתְךָ֥ שִֽׁעֲשָֽׁעְתִּי

Their heart is as fat as grease; I delight in your law.

טֽוֹב לִ֥י כִֽי עֻנֵּ֑יתִי לְ֝מַ֗עַן אֶלְמַ֥ד חֻקֶּֽיךָ

good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn your statutes.

טֽוֹב לִ֥י תֽוֹרַת פִּ֑יךָ מֵ֝אַלְפֵ֗י זָהָ֥ב וָכָֽסֶף

The law of your mouth better to me than thousands of gold and silver.

יָדֶ֣יךָ עָ֭שׂוּנִי וַֽיְכוֹנְנ֑וּנִי הֲ֝בִינֵ֗נִי וְאֶלְמְדָ֥ה מִצְוֺתֶֽיךָ

JOD. Your hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn your commandments.

יְ֭רֵאֶיךָ יִרְא֣וּנִי וְיִשְׂמָ֑חוּ כִּ֖י לִדְבָרְךָ֣ יִחָֽלְתִּי

They that fear you will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in your word.

יָדַ֣עְתִּי יְ֭הוָה כִּי צֶ֣דֶק מִשְׁפָּטֶ֑יךָ וֶ֝אֱמוּנָ֗ה עִנִּיתָֽנִי

I know, O YHWH, that your judgments right, and you in faithfulness have afflicted me.

יְהִי נָ֣א חַסְדְּךָ֣ לְנַחֲמֵ֑נִי כְּאִמְרָתְךָ֥ לְעַבְדֶּֽךָ

Let, I pray you, your merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to your word to your servant.

יְבֹא֣וּנִי רַחֲמֶ֣יךָ וְאֶֽחְיֶ֑ה כִּי תֽ֝וֹרָתְךָ֗ שַֽׁעֲשֻׁעָֽי

Let your tender mercies come to me, that I may live: for your law my delight.

יֵבֹ֣שׁוּ זֵ֭דִים כִּי שֶׁ֣קֶר עִוְּת֑וּנִי אֲ֝נִ֗י אָשִׂ֥יחַ בְּפִקּוּדֶֽיךָ

Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: I will meditate in your precepts.

יָשׁ֣וּבוּ לִ֣י יְרֵאֶ֑יךָ וידעו וְ֝יֹדְעֵ֗י עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ

Let those that fear you turn to me, and those that have known your testimonies.

יְהִֽי לִבִּ֣י תָמִ֣ים בְּחֻקֶּ֑יךָ לְ֝מַ֗עַן לֹ֣א אֵבֽוֹשׁ

Let my heart be sound in your statutes; that I be not ashamed.

כָּלְתָ֣ה לִתְשׁוּעָתְךָ֣ נַפְשִׁ֑י לִדְבָרְךָ֥ יִחָֽלְתִּי

CAPH. My soul fainteth for your salvation: I hope in your word.

כָּל֣וּ עֵ֭ינַי לְאִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ לֵ֝אמֹ֗ר מָתַ֥י תְּֽנַחֲמֵֽנִי

Mine eyes fail for your word, saying, When will you comfort me?

כִּֽי הָ֭יִיתִי כְּנֹ֣אד בְּקִיט֑וֹר חֻ֝קֶּ֗יךָ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי

For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; do I not forget your statutes.

כַּמָּ֥ה יְמֵֽי עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ מָתַ֬י תַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה בְרֹדְפַ֣י מִשְׁפָּֽט

How many the days of your servant? when will you execute judgment on them that persecute me?

כָּֽרוּ לִ֣י זֵדִ֣ים שִׁיח֑וֹת אֲ֝שֶׁ֗ר לֹ֣א כְתוֹרָתֶֽךָ

The proud have digged pits for me, which not after your law.

כָּל מִצְוֺתֶ֥יךָ אֱמוּנָ֑ה שֶׁ֖קֶר רְדָפ֣וּנִי עָזְרֵֽנִי

All your commandments faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help you me.

כִּ֭מְעַט כִּלּ֣וּנִי בָאָ֑רֶץ וַ֝אֲנִ֗י לֹא עָזַ֥בְתִּי פִקֻּודֶֽיךָ

They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not your precepts.

כְּחַסְדְּךָ֥ חַיֵּ֑נִי וְ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה עֵד֥וּת פִּֽיךָ

Quicken me after your lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of your mouth.

לְעוֹלָ֥ם יְהוָ֑ה דְּ֝בָרְךָ֗ נִצָּ֥ב בַּשָּׁמָֽיִם

LAMED. For ever, O YHWH, your word is settled in heaven.

לְדֹ֣ר וָ֭דֹר אֱמֽוּנָתֶ֑ךָ כּוֹנַ֥נְתָּ אֶ֝֗רֶץ וַֽתַּעֲמֹֽד

Your faithfulness to all generations: you have established the earth, and it abideth.

לְֽ֭מִשְׁפָּטֶיךָ עָמְד֣וּ הַיּ֑וֹם כִּ֖י הַכֹּ֣ל עֲבָדֶֽיךָ

They continue this day according to your ordinances: for all your servants.

לוּלֵ֣י ת֭וֹרָתְךָ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָ֑י אָ֝֗ז אָבַ֥דְתִּי בְעָנְיִֽי

Unless your law my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.

לְ֭עוֹלָם לֹא אֶשְׁכַּ֣ח פִּקּוּדֶ֑יךָ כִּ֥י בָ֝֗ם חִיִּיתָֽנִי

I will never forget your precepts: for with them you have quickened me.

לְֽךָ אֲ֭נִי הוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נִי כִּ֖י פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ דָרָֽשְׁתִּי

I your, save me; for I have sought your precepts.

לִ֤י קִוּ֣וּ רְשָׁעִ֣ים לְאַבְּדֵ֑נִי עֵ֝דֹתֶ֗יךָ אֶתְבּוֹנָֽן

The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: I will consider your testimonies.

לְֽכָל תִּ֭כְלָה רָאִ֣יתִי קֵ֑ץ רְחָבָ֖ה מִצְוָתְךָ֣ מְאֹֽד

I have seen an end of all perfection: your commandment exceeding broad.

מָֽה אָהַ֥בְתִּי תוֹרָתֶ֑ךָ כָּל הַ֝יּ֗וֹם הִ֣יא שִׂיחָתִֽי

MEM. O how love I your law! it my meditation all the day.

מֵ֭אֹ֣יְבַי תְּחַכְּמֵ֣נִי מִצְוֺתֶ֑ךָ כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם הִיא לִֽי

You through your commandments have made me wiser than mine enemies: for they ever with me.

מִכָּל מְלַמְּדַ֥י הִשְׂכַּ֑לְתִּי כִּ֥י עֵ֝דְוֺתֶ֗יךָ שִׂ֣יחָה לִֽֿי

I have more understanding than all my teachers: for your testimonies my meditation.

מִזְּקֵנִ֥ים אֶתְבּוֹנָ֑ן כִּ֖י פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ נָצָֽרְתִּי

I understand more than the ancients, because I keep your precepts.

מִכָּל אֹ֣רַח רָ֭ע כָּלִ֣אתִי רַגְלָ֑י לְ֝מַ֗עַן אֶשְׁמֹ֥ר דְּבָרֶֽךָ

I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep your word.

מִמִּשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ לֹא סָ֑רְתִּי כִּֽי אַ֝תָּ֗ה הוֹרֵתָֽנִי

I have not departed from your judgments: for you have taught me.

מַה נִּמְלְצ֣וּ לְ֭חִכִּי אִמְרָתֶ֗ךָ מִדְּבַ֥שׁ לְפִֽי

How sweet are your words to my taste! than honey to my mouth!

מִפִּקּוּדֶ֥יךָ אֶתְבּוֹנָ֑ן עַל כֵּ֝֗ן שָׂנֵ֤אתִי כָּל אֹ֬רַח שָֽׁקֶר

Through your precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

נֵר לְרַגְלִ֥י דְבָרֶ֑ךָ וְ֝א֗וֹר לִנְתִיבָתִֽי

NUN. Your word a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.

נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתִּי וָאֲקַיֵּ֑מָה לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י צִדְקֶֽךָ

I have sworn, and I will perform , that I will keep your righteous judgments.

נַעֲנֵ֥יתִי עַד מְאֹ֑ד יְ֝הוָ֗ה חַיֵּ֥נִי כִדְבָרֶֽךָ

I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O YHWH, according to your word.

נִדְב֣וֹת פִּ֭י רְצֵה נָ֣א יְהוָ֑ה וּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ לַמְּדֵֽנִי

Accept, I beseech you, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O YHWH, and teach me your judgments.

נַפְשִׁ֣י בְכַפִּ֣י תָמִ֑יד וְ֝תֽוֹרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי

My soul continually in my hand: yet do I not forget your law.

נָתְנ֬וּ רְשָׁעִ֣ים פַּ֣ח לִ֑י וּ֝מִפִּקּוּדֶ֗יךָ לֹ֣א תָעִֽיתִי

The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from your precepts.

נָחַ֣לְתִּי עֵדְוֺתֶ֣יךָ לְעוֹלָ֑ם כִּֽי שְׂשׂ֖וֹן לִבִּ֣י הֵֽמָּה

Your testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they the rejoicing of my heart.

נָטִ֣יתִי לִ֭בִּי לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת חֻקֶּ֗יךָ לְעוֹלָ֥ם עֵֽקֶב

I have inclined mine heart to perform your statutes alway, the end.

סֵעֲפִ֥ים שָׂנֵ֑אתִי וְֽתוֹרָתְךָ֥ אָהָֽבְתִּי

SAMECH. I hate thoughts: but your law do I love.

סִתְרִ֣י וּמָגִנִּ֣י אָ֑תָּה לִדְבָרְךָ֥ יִחָֽלְתִּי

You my hiding place and my shield: I hope in your word.

סֽוּרוּ מִמֶּ֥נִּי מְרֵעִ֑ים וְ֝אֶצְּרָ֗ה מִצְוֺ֥ת אֱלֹהָֽי

Depart from me, you evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.

סָמְכֵ֣נִי כְאִמְרָתְךָ֣ וְאֶֽחְיֶ֑ה וְאַל תְּ֝בִישֵׁ֗נִי מִשִּׂבְרִֽי

Uphold me according to your word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.

סְעָדֵ֥נִי וְאִוָּשֵׁ֑עָה וְאֶשְׁעָ֖ה בְחֻקֶּ֣יךָ תָמִֽיד

Hold you me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect to your statutes continually.

סָ֭לִיתָ כָּל שׁוֹגִ֣ים מֵחֻקֶּ֑יךָ כִּי שֶׁ֝֗קֶר תַּרְמִיתָֽם

You have trodden down all them that err from your statutes: for their deceit falsehood.

סִגִ֗ים הִשְׁבַּ֥תָּ כָל רִשְׁעֵי אָ֑רֶץ לָ֝כֵ֗ן אָהַ֥בְתִּי עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ

You puttest away all the wicked of the earth dross: therefore I love your testimonies.

סָמַ֣ר מִפַּחְדְּךָ֣ בְשָׂרִ֑י וּֽמִמִּשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ יָרֵֽאתִי

My flesh trembleth for fear of you; and I am afraid of your judgments.

עָ֭שִׂיתִי מִשְׁפָּ֣ט וָצֶ֑דֶק בַּל תַּ֝נִּיחֵ֗נִי לְעֹֽשְׁקָֽי

AIN. I have done judgment and justice: leave me not to mine oppressors.

עֲרֹ֣ב עַבְדְּךָ֣ לְט֑וֹב אַֽל יַעַשְׁקֻ֥נִי זֵדִֽים

Be surety for your servant for good: let not the proud oppress me.

עֵ֭ינַי כָּל֣וּ לִֽישׁוּעָתֶ֑ךָ וּלְאִמְרַ֥ת צִדְקֶֽךָ

Mine eyes fail for your salvation, and for the word of your righteousness.

עֲשֵׂ֖ה עִם עַבְדְּךָ֥ כְחַסְדֶּ֗ךָ וְחֻקֶּ֥יךָ לַמְּדֵֽנִי

Deal with your servant according to your mercy, and teach me your statutes.

עַבְדְּךָ אָ֥נִי הֲבִינֵ֑נִי וְ֝אֵדְעָ֗ה עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ

I your servant; give me understanding, that I may know your testimonies.

עֵ֭ת לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת לַיהוָ֑ה הֵ֝פֵ֗רוּ תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ

time for , YHWH, to work: they have made void your law.

עַל כֵּ֭ן אָהַ֣בְתִּי מִצְוֺתֶ֑יךָ מִזָּהָ֥ב וּמִפָּֽז

Therefore I love your commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.

עַל כֵּ֤ן כָּל פִּקּ֣וּדֵי כֹ֣ל יִשָּׁ֑רְתִּי כָּל אֹ֖רַח שֶׁ֣קֶר שָׂנֵֽאתִי

Therefore I esteem all precepts all right; I hate every false way.

פְּלָא֥וֹת עֵדְוֺתֶ֑יךָ עַל כֵּ֝֗ן נְצָרָ֥תַם נַפְשִֽׁי

PE. Your testimonies wonderful: therefore does my soul keep them.

פֵּ֖תַח דְּבָרֶ֥יךָ יָאִ֗יר מֵבִ֥ין פְּתָיִֽים

The entrance of your words giveth light; it giveth understanding to the simple.

פִּֽי פָ֭עַרְתִּי וָאֶשְׁאָ֑פָה כִּ֖י לְמִצְוֺתֶ֣יךָ יָאָֽבְתִּי

I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for your commandments.

פְּנֵה אֵלַ֥י וְחָנֵּ֑נִי כְּ֝מִשְׁפָּ֗ט לְאֹהֲבֵ֥י שְׁמֶֽךָ

Look you upon me, and be merciful to me, as you usest to do to those that love your name.

פְּ֭עָמַי הָכֵ֣ן בְּאִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ וְֽאַל תַּשְׁלֶט בִּ֥י כָל אָֽוֶן

Order my steps in your word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

פְּ֭דֵנִי מֵעֹ֣שֶׁק אָדָ֑ם וְ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה פִּקּוּדֶֽיךָ

Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep your precepts.

פָּ֭נֶיךָ הָאֵ֣ר בְּעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ וְ֝לַמְּדֵ֗נִי אֶת חֻקֶּֽיךָ

Make your face to shine upon your servant; and teach me your statutes.

פַּלְגֵי מַ֭יִם יָרְד֣וּ עֵינָ֑י עַ֝֗ל לֹא שָׁמְר֥וּ תוֹרָתֶֽךָ

Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not your law.

צַדִּ֣יק אַתָּ֣ה יְהוָ֑ה וְ֝יָשָׁ֗ר מִשְׁפָּטֶֽיךָ

TZADDI. Righteous you, O YHWH, and upright your judgments.

צִ֭וִּיתָ צֶ֣דֶק עֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ וֶֽאֱמוּנָ֥ה מְאֹֽד

Your testimonies you have commanded righteous and very faithful.

צִמְּתַ֥תְנִי קִנְאָתִ֑י כִּֽי שָׁכְח֖וּ דְבָרֶ֣יךָ צָרָֽי

My zeal has consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten your words.

צְרוּפָ֖ה אִמְרָתְךָ֥ מְאֹ֗ד וְֽעַבְדְּךָ֥ אֲהֵבָֽהּ

Your word very pure: therefore your servant loveth it.

צָעִ֣יר אָנֹכִ֣י וְנִבְזֶ֑ה פִּ֝קֻּדֶ֗יךָ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי

I small and despised: do not I forget your precepts.

צִדְקָתְךָ֣ צֶ֣דֶק לְעוֹלָ֑ם וְֽתוֹרָתְךָ֥ אֱמֶֽת

Your righteousness an everlasting righteousness, and your law the truth.

צַר וּמָצ֥וֹק מְצָא֑וּנִי מִ֝צְוֺתֶ֗יךָ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָֽי

Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: your commandments my delights.

צֶ֖דֶק עֵדְוֺתֶ֥יךָ לְעוֹלָ֗ם הֲבִינֵ֥נִי וְאֶחְיֶֽה

The righteousness of your testimonies everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.

קָרָ֣אתִי בְכָל לֵ֭ב עֲנֵ֥נִי יְהוָ֗ה חֻקֶּ֥יךָ אֶצֹּֽרָה

KOPH. I cried with whole heart; hear me, O YHWH: I will keep your statutes.

קְרָאתִ֥יךָ הוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נִי וְ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ

I cried to you; save me, and I shall keep your testimonies.

קִדַּ֣מְתִּי בַ֭נֶּשֶׁף וָאֲשַׁוֵּ֑עָה לדבריך לִדְבָרְךָ֥ יִחָֽלְתִּי

I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in your word.

קִדְּמ֣וּ עֵ֭ינַי אַשְׁמֻר֑וֹת לָ֝שִׂ֗יחַ בְּאִמְרָתֶֽךָ

Mine eyes prevent the watches, that I might meditate in your word.

ק֭וֹלִי שִׁמְעָ֣ה כְחַסְדֶּ֑ךָ יְ֝הוָ֗ה כְּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥ךָ חַיֵּֽנִי

Hear my voice according to your lovingkindness: O YHWH, quicken me according to your judgment.

קָ֭רְבוּ רֹדְפֵ֣י זִמָּ֑ה מִתּוֹרָתְךָ֥ רָחָֽקוּ

They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from your law.

קָר֣וֹב אַתָּ֣ה יְהוָ֑ה וְֽכָל מִצְוֺתֶ֥יךָ אֱמֶֽת

You near, O YHWH; and all your commandments truth.
