The Book of Jeremiah, Chapter 33ירמיהו 33

וַיְהִ֧י דְבַר יְהוָ֛ה אֶֽל יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ שֵׁנִ֑ית וְהוּא֙ עוֹדֶ֣נּוּ עָצ֔וּר בַּחֲצַ֥ר הַמַּטָּרָ֖ה לֵאמֹֽר

Moreover the word of YHWH came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

כֹּֽה אָמַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה עֹשָׂ֑הּ יְהוָ֗ה יוֹצֵ֥ר אוֹתָ֛הּ לַהֲכִינָ֖הּ יְהוָ֥ה שְׁמֽוֹ

Thus says YHWH the maker thereof, YHWH that formed it, to establish it; YHWH his name;

קְרָ֥א אֵלַ֖י וְאֶעֱנֶ֑ךָּ וְאַגִּ֧ידָה לְּךָ֛ גְּדֹל֥וֹת וּבְצֻר֖וֹת לֹ֥א יְדַעְתָּֽם

Call to me, and I will answer you, and shew you great and mighty things, which you knowest not.

כִּי֩ כֹ֨ה אָמַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל עַל בָּתֵּי֙ הָעִ֣יר הַזֹּ֔את וְעַל בָּתֵּ֖י מַלְכֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה הַנְּתֻצִ֕ים אֶל הַסֹּלְל֖וֹת וְאֶל הֶחָֽרֶב

For thus says YHWH, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword;

בָּאִ֗ים לְהִלָּחֵם֙ אֶת הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים וּלְמַלְאָם֙ אֶת פִּגְרֵ֣י הָאָדָ֔ם אֲשֶׁר הִכֵּ֥יתִי בְאַפִּ֖י וּבַחֲמָתִ֑י וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר הִסְתַּ֤רְתִּי פָנַי֙ מֵהָעִ֣יר הַזֹּ֔את עַ֖ל כָּל רָעָתָֽם

They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.

הִנְנִ֧י מַעֲלֶה לָּ֛הּ אֲרֻכָ֥ה וּמַרְפֵּ֖א וּרְפָאתִ֑ים וְגִלֵּיתִ֣י לָהֶ֔ם עֲתֶ֥רֶת שָׁל֖וֹם וֶאֱמֶֽת

Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.

וַהֲשִֽׁבֹתִי֙ אֶת שְׁב֣וּת יְהוּדָ֔ה וְאֵ֖ת שְׁב֣וּת יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וּבְנִתִ֖ים כְּבָרִֽאשֹׁנָֽה

And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

וְטִ֣הַרְתִּ֔ים מִכָּל עֲוֺנָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָֽטְאוּ לִ֑י וְסָלַחְתִּ֗י לכול לְכָל עֲוֺנֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָֽטְאוּ לִ֔י וַאֲשֶׁ֖ר פָּ֥שְׁעוּ בִֽי

And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

וְהָ֣יְתָה לִּ֗י לְשֵׁ֤ם שָׂשׂוֹן֙ לִתְהִלָּ֣ה וּלְתִפְאֶ֔רֶת לְכֹ֖ל גּוֹיֵ֣י הָאָ֑רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִשְׁמְע֜וּ אֶת כָּל הַטּוֹבָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר אָֽנֹכִי֙ עֹשֶׂ֣ה אֹתָ֔ם וּפָחֲד֣וּ וְרָֽגְז֗וּ עַ֤ל כָּל הַטּוֹבָה֙ וְעַ֣ל כָּל הַשָּׁל֔וֹם אֲשֶׁ֥ר אָֽנֹכִ֖י עֹ֥שֶׂה לָּֽהּ

And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do to them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure to it.

כֹּ֣ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה עוֹד֮ יִשָּׁמַ֣ע בַּמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה֒ אֲשֶׁר֙ אַתֶּ֣ם אֹֽמְרִ֔ים חָרֵ֣ב ה֔וּא מֵאֵ֥ין אָדָ֖ם וּמֵאֵ֣ין בְּהֵמָ֑ה בְּעָרֵ֤י יְהוּדָה֙ וּבְחֻצ֣וֹת יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם הַֽנְשַׁמּ֗וֹת מֵאֵ֥ין אָדָ֛ם וּמֵאֵ֥ין יוֹשֵׁ֖ב וּמֵאֵ֥ין בְּהֵמָֽה

Thus says YHWH; Again there shall be heard in this place, which you say desolate without man and without beast, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast,

ק֣וֹל שָׂשׂ֞וֹן וְק֣וֹל שִׂמְחָ֗ה ק֣וֹל חָתָן֮ וְק֣וֹל כַּלָּה֒ ק֣וֹל אֹמְרִ֡ים הוֹדוּ֩ אֶת יְהוָ֨ה צְבָא֜וֹת כִּֽי ט֤וֹב יְהוָה֙ כִּֽי לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּ֔וֹ מְבִאִ֥ים תּוֹדָ֖ה בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה כִּֽי אָשִׁ֧יב אֶת שְׁבוּת הָאָ֛רֶץ כְּבָרִאשֹׁנָ֖ה אָמַ֥ר יְהוָֽה

The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise YHWH of hosts: for YHWH good; for his mercy for ever: of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of YHWH. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, says YHWH.

כֹּֽה אָמַר֮ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָאוֹת֒ ע֞וֹד יִֽהְיֶ֣ה בַּמָּק֣וֹם הַזֶּ֗ה הֶחָרֵ֛ב מֵֽאֵין אָדָ֥ם וְעַד בְּהֵמָ֖ה וּבְכָל עָרָ֑יו נְוֵ֣ה רֹעִ֔ים מַרְבִּצִ֖ים צֹֽאן

Thus says YHWH of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shepherds causing flocks to lie down.

בְּעָרֵ֨י הָהָ֜ר בְּעָרֵ֤י הַשְּׁפֵלָה֙ וּבְעָרֵ֣י הַנֶּ֔גֶב וּבְאֶ֧רֶץ בִּנְיָמִ֛ן וּבִסְבִיבֵ֥י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם וּבְעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה עֹ֣ד תַּעֲבֹ֧רְנָה הַצֹּ֛אן עַל יְדֵ֥י מוֹנֶ֖ה אָמַ֥ר יְהוָֽה

In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him that telleth , says YHWH.

הִנֵּ֛ה יָמִ֥ים בָּאִ֖ים נְאֻם יְהוָ֑ה וַהֲקִֽמֹתִי֙ אֶת הַדָּבָ֣ר הַטּ֔וֹב אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּ֛רְתִּי אֶל בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְעַל בֵּ֥ית יְהוּדָֽה

Behold, the days come, says YHWH, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.

בַּיָּמִ֤ים הָהֵם֙ וּבָעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔יא אַצְמִ֥יחַ לְדָוִ֖ד צֶ֣מַח צְדָקָ֑ה וְעָשָׂ֛ה מִשְׁפָּ֥ט וּצְדָקָ֖ה בָּאָֽרֶץ

In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up to David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

בַּיָּמִ֤ים הָהֵם֙ תִּוָּשַׁ֣ע יְהוּדָ֔ה וִירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם תִּשְׁכּ֣וֹן לָבֶ֑טַח וְזֶ֥ה אֲשֶׁר יִקְרָא לָ֖הּ יְהוָ֥ה צִדְקֵֽנוּ

In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this wherewith she shall be called, YHWH our righteousness.

כִּי כֹ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה לֹֽא יִכָּרֵ֣ת לְדָוִ֔ד אִ֕ישׁ יֹשֵׁ֖ב עַל כִּסֵּ֥א בֵֽית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל

For thus says YHWH; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;

וְלַכֹּהֲנִים֙ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם לֹֽא יִכָּרֵ֥ת אִ֖ישׁ מִלְּפָנָ֑י מַעֲלֶ֨ה עוֹלָ֜ה וּמַקְטִ֥יר מִנְחָ֛ה וְעֹ֥שֶׂה זֶּ֖בַח כָּל הַיָּמִֽים

Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.

וַֽיְהִי֙ דְּבַר יְהוָ֔ה אֶֽל יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ לֵאמֽוֹר

And the word of YHWH came to Jeremiah, saying,

כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה אִם תָּפֵ֨רוּ֙ אֶת בְּרִיתִ֣י הַיּ֔וֹם וְאֶת בְּרִיתִ֖י הַלָּ֑יְלָה וּלְבִלְתִּ֛י הֱי֥וֹת יֽוֹמָם וָלַ֖יְלָה בְּעִתָּֽם

Thus says YHWH; If you can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;

גַּם בְּרִיתִ֤י תֻפַר֙ אֶת דָּוִ֣ד עַבְדִּ֔י מִהְיֽוֹת ל֥וֹ בֵ֖ן מֹלֵ֣ךְ עַל כִּסְא֑וֹ וְאֶת הַלְוִיִּ֥ם הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים מְשָׁרְתָֽי

may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא יִסָּפֵר֙ צְבָ֣א הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְלֹ֥א יִמַּ֖ד ח֣וֹל הַיָּ֑ם כֵּ֣ן אַרְבֶּ֗ה אֶת זֶ֨רַע֙ דָּוִ֣ד עַבְדִּ֔י וְאֶת הַלְוִיִּ֖ם מְשָׁרְתֵ֥י אֹתִֽי

As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister to me.

וַֽיְהִי֙ דְּבַר יְהוָ֔ה אֶֽל יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ לֵאמֹֽר

Moreover the word of YHWH came to Jeremiah, saying,

הֲל֣וֹא רָאִ֗יתָ מָֽה הָעָ֤ם הַזֶּה֙ דִּבְּר֣וּ לֵאמֹ֔ר שְׁתֵּ֣י הַמִּשְׁפָּח֗וֹת אֲשֶׁ֨ר בָּחַ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה בָּהֶ֖ם וַיִּמְאָסֵ֑ם וְאֶת עַמִּי֙ יִנְאָצ֔וּן מִֽהְי֥וֹת ע֖וֹד גּ֥וֹי לִפְנֵיהֶֽם

Considerest you not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which YHWH has chosen, he has even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.

כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה אִם לֹ֥א בְרִיתִ֖י יוֹמָ֣ם וָלָ֑יְלָה חֻקּ֛וֹת שָׁמַ֥יִם וָאָ֖רֶץ לֹא שָֽׂמְתִּי

Thus says YHWH; If my covenant not with day and night, I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

גַּם זֶ֣רַע יַעֲקוֹב֩ וְדָוִ֨ד עַבְדִּ֜י אֶמְאַ֗ס מִקַּ֤חַת מִזַּרְעוֹ֙ מֹֽשְׁלִ֔ים אֶל זֶ֥רַע אַבְרָהָ֖ם יִשְׂחָ֣ק וְיַעֲקֹ֑ב כִּֽי אשוב אָשִׁ֥יב אֶת שְׁבוּתָ֖ם וְרִחַמְתִּֽים

Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, that I will not take of his seed rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.
