The Book of Ezekiel, Chapter 36יחזקאל 36

וְאַתָּ֣ה בֶן אָדָ֔ם הִנָּבֵ֖א אֶל הָרֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְאָ֣מַרְתָּ֔ הָרֵי֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל שִׁמְע֖וּ דְּבַר יְהוָֽה

Also, you son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, You mountains of Israel, hear the word of YHWH:

כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה יַ֣עַן אָמַ֧ר הָאוֹיֵ֛ב עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם הֶאָ֑ח וּבָמ֣וֹת עוֹלָ֔ם לְמֽוֹרָשָׁ֖ה הָ֥יְתָה לָּֽנוּ

Thus says YHWH YHWH; Because the enemy has said against you, Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession:

לָכֵן֙ הִנָּבֵ֣א וְאָמַרְתָּ֔ כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה יַ֣עַן בְּיַ֡עַן שַׁמּוֹת֩ וְשָׁאֹ֨ף אֶתְכֶ֜ם מִסָּבִ֗יב לִֽהְיוֹתְכֶ֤ם מֽוֹרָשָׁה֙ לִשְׁאֵרִ֣ית הַגּוֹיִ֔ם וַתֵּֽעֲל֛וּ עַל שְׂפַ֥ת לָשׁ֖וֹן וְדִבַּת עָֽם

Therefore prophesy and say, Thus says YHWH YHWH; Because they have made desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that you might be a possession to the residue of the heathen, and you are taken up in the lips of talkers, and an infamy of the people:

לָכֵן֙ הָרֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל שִׁמְע֖וּ דְּבַר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה כֹּֽה אָמַ֣ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְ֠הוִה לֶהָרִ֨ים וְלַגְּבָע֜וֹת לָאֲפִיקִ֣ים וְלַגֵּאָי֗וֹת וְלֶחֳרָב֤וֹת הַשֹּֽׁמְמוֹת֙ וְלֶעָרִ֣ים הַנֶּעֱזָב֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֨ר הָי֤וּ לְבַז֙ וּלְלַ֔עַג לִשְׁאֵרִ֥ית הַגּוֹיִ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר מִסָּבִֽיב

Therefore, you mountains of Israel, hear the word of YHWH YHWH; Thus says YHWH YHWH to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes, and to the cities that are forsaken, which became a prey and derision to the residue of the heathen that round about;

לָכֵ֗ן כֹּֽה אָמַר֮ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִה֒ אִם לֹ֠א בְּאֵ֨שׁ קִנְאָתִ֥י דִבַּ֛רְתִּי עַל שְׁאֵרִ֥ית הַגּוֹיִ֖ם וְעַל אֱד֣וֹם כֻּלָּ֑א אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָתְנֽוּ אֶת אַרְצִ֣י לָ֠הֶם לְמ֨וֹרָשָׁ֜ה בְּשִׂמְחַ֤ת כָּל לֵבָב֙ בִּשְׁאָ֣ט נֶ֔פֶשׁ לְמַ֥עַן מִגְרָשָׁ֖הּ לָבַֽז

Therefore thus says YHWH YHWH; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.

לָכֵ֕ן הִנָּבֵ֖א עַל אַדְמַ֣ת יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְאָמַרְתָּ֡ לֶהָרִ֣ים וְ֠לַגְּבָעוֹת לָאֲפִיקִ֨ים וְלַגֵּאָי֜וֹת כֹּֽה אָמַ֣ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֗ה הִנְנִ֨י בְקִנְאָתִ֤י וּבַחֲמָתִי֙ דִּבַּ֔רְתִּי יַ֛עַן כְּלִמַּ֥ת גּוֹיִ֖ם נְשָׂאתֶֽם

Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus says YHWH YHWH; Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my fury, because you have borne the shame of the heathen:

לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה אֲנִ֖י נָשָׂ֣אתִי אֶת יָדִ֑י אִם לֹ֤א הַגּוֹיִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָכֶ֣ם מִסָּבִ֔יב הֵ֖מָּה כְּלִמָּתָ֥ם יִשָּֽׂאוּ

Therefore thus says YHWH YHWH; I have lifted up mine hand, Surely the heathen that about you, they shall bear their shame.

וְאַתֶּ֞ם הָרֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ עַנְפְּכֶ֣ם תִּתֵּ֔נוּ וּפֶרְיְכֶ֥ם תִּשְׂא֖וּ לְעַמִּ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כִּ֥י קֵרְב֖וּ לָבֽוֹא

But you, O mountains of Israel, you shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come.

כִּ֖י הִנְנִ֣י אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם וּפָנִ֣יתִי אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם וְנֶעֱבַדְתֶּ֖ם וְנִזְרַעְתֶּֽם

For, behold, I for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown:

וְהִרְבֵּיתִ֤י עֲלֵיכֶם֙ אָדָ֔ם כָּל בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל כֻּלֹּ֑ה וְנֹֽשְׁבוּ֙ הֶֽעָרִ֔ים וְהֶחֳרָב֖וֹת תִּבָּנֶֽינָה

And I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, all of it: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the wastes shall be builded:

וְהִרְבֵּיתִ֧י עֲלֵיכֶ֛ם אָדָ֥ם וּבְהֵמָ֖ה וְרָב֣וּ וּפָר֑וּ וְהוֹשַׁבְתִּ֨י אֶתְכֶ֜ם כְּקַדְמֽוֹתֵיכֶ֗ם וְהֵטִֽבֹתִי֙ מֵרִאשֹׁ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם וִֽידַעְתֶּ֖ם כִּֽי אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה

And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better than at your beginnings: and you shall know that I YHWH.

וְהוֹלַכְתִּי֩ עֲלֵיכֶ֨ם אָדָ֜ם אֶת עַמִּ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וִֽירֵשׁ֔וּךָ וְהָיִ֥יתָ לָהֶ֖ם לְנַחֲלָ֑ה וְלֹא תוֹסִ֥ף ע֖וֹד לְשַׁכְּלָֽם

Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, my people Israel; and they shall possess you, and you shall be their inheritance, and you shall no more henceforth bereave them .

כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה יַ֚עַן אֹמְרִ֣ים לָכֶ֔ם אֹכֶ֥לֶת אָדָ֖ם אתי אָ֑תְּ וּמְשַׁכֶּ֥לֶת גויך גּוֹיַ֖יִךְ הָיִֽית

Thus says YHWH YHWH; Because they say to you, You devourest up men, and have bereaved your nations;

לָכֵ֗ן אָדָם֙ לֹא תֹ֣אכְלִי ע֔וֹד וגויך וְגוֹיַ֖יִךְ לֹ֣א תכשלי תְשַׁכְּלִי ע֑וֹד נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה

Therefore you shall devour men no more, neither bereave your nations any more, says YHWH YHWH.

וְלֹא אַשְׁמִ֨יעַ אֵלַ֤יִךְ עוֹד֙ כְּלִמַּ֣ת הַגּוֹיִ֔ם וְחֶרְפַּ֥ת עַמִּ֖ים לֹ֣א תִשְׂאִי ע֑וֹד וגויך וְגוֹיַ֨יִךְ֙ לֹא תַכְשִׁ֣לִי ע֔וֹד נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה

Neither will I cause to hear in you the shame of the heathen any more, neither shall you bear the reproach of the people any more, neither shall you cause your nations to fall any more, says YHWH YHWH.

וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר

Moreover the word of YHWH came to me, saying,

בֶּן אָדָ֗ם בֵּ֤ית יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ יֹשְׁבִ֣ים עַל אַדְמָתָ֔ם וַיְטַמְּא֣וּ אוֹתָ֔הּ בְּדַרְכָּ֖ם וּבַעֲלִֽילוֹתָ֑ם כְּטֻמְאַת֙ הַנִּדָּ֔ה הָיְתָ֥ה דַרְכָּ֖ם לְפָנָֽי

Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.

וָאֶשְׁפֹּ֤ךְ חֲמָתִי֙ עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם עַל הַדָּ֖ם אֲשֶׁר שָׁפְכ֣וּ עַל הָאָ֑רֶץ וּבְגִלּוּלֵיהֶ֖ם טִמְּאֽוּהָ

Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols they had polluted it:

וָאָפִ֤יץ אֹתָם֙ בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם וַיִּזָּר֖וּ בָּאֲרָצ֑וֹת כְּדַרְכָּ֥ם וְכַעֲלִילוֹתָ֖ם שְׁפַטְתִּֽים

And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.

וַיָּב֗וֹא אֶל הַגּוֹיִם֙ אֲשֶׁר בָּ֣אוּ שָׁ֔ם וַֽיְחַלְּל֖וּ אֶת שֵׁ֣ם קָדְשִׁ֑י בֶּאֱמֹ֤ר לָהֶם֙ עַם יְהוָ֣ה אֵ֔לֶּה וּמֵאַרְצ֖וֹ יָצָֽאוּ

And when they entered to the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These the people of YHWH, and are gone forth out of his land.

וָאֶחְמֹ֖ל עַל שֵׁ֣ם קָדְשִׁ֑י אֲשֶׁ֤ר חִלְּל֨וּהוּ֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בַּגּוֹיִ֖ם אֲשֶׁר בָּ֥אוּ שָֽׁמָּה

But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went.

לָכֵ֞ן אֱמֹ֣ר לְבֵֽית יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה לֹ֧א לְמַעַנְכֶ֛ם אֲנִ֥י עֹשֶׂ֖ה בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כִּ֤י אִם לְשֵׁם קָדְשִׁי֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר חִלַּלְתֶּ֔ם בַּגּוֹיִ֖ם אֲשֶׁר בָּ֥אתֶם שָֽׁם

Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says YHWH YHWH; I do not for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which you have profaned among the heathen, whither you went.

וְקִדַּשְׁתִּ֞י אֶת שְׁמִ֣י הַגָּד֗וֹל הַֽמְחֻלָּל֙ בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר חִלַּלְתֶּ֖ם בְּתוֹכָ֑ם וְיָדְע֨וּ הַגּוֹיִ֜ם כִּי אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֗ה נְאֻם֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה בְּהִקָּדְשִׁ֥י בָכֶ֖ם לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם

And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which you have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I YHWH, says YHWH YHWH, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

וְלָקַחְתִּ֤י אֶתְכֶם֙ מִן הַגּוֹיִ֔ם וְקִבַּצְתִּ֥י אֶתְכֶ֖ם מִכָּל הָאֲרָצ֑וֹת וְהֵבֵאתִ֥י אֶתְכֶ֖ם אֶל אַדְמַתְכֶֽם

For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

וְזָרַקְתִּ֧י עֲלֵיכֶ֛ם מַ֥יִם טְהוֹרִ֖ים וּטְהַרְתֶּ֑ם מִכֹּ֧ל טֻמְאוֹתֵיכֶ֛ם וּמִכָּל גִּלּ֥וּלֵיכֶ֖ם אֲטַהֵ֥ר אֶתְכֶֽם

Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

וְנָתַתִּ֤י לָכֶם֙ לֵ֣ב חָדָ֔שׁ וְר֥וּחַ חֲדָשָׁ֖ה אֶתֵּ֣ן בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑ם וַהֲסִ֨רֹתִ֜י אֶת לֵ֤ב הָאֶ֨בֶן֙ מִבְּשַׂרְכֶ֔ם וְנָתַתִּ֥י לָכֶ֖ם לֵ֥ב בָּשָֽׂר

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

וְאֶת רוּחִ֖י אֶתֵּ֣ן בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑ם וְעָשִׂ֗יתִי אֵ֤ת אֲשֶׁר בְּחֻקַּי֙ תֵּלֵ֔כוּ וּמִשְׁפָּטַ֥י תִּשְׁמְר֖וּ וַעֲשִׂיתֶֽם

And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my judgments, and do .

וִישַׁבְתֶּ֣ם בָּאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תִּי לַאֲבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם וִהְיִ֤יתֶם לִי֙ לְעָ֔ם וְאָ֣נֹכִ֔י אֶהְיֶ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם לֵאלֹהִֽים

And you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

וְהוֹשַׁעְתִּ֣י אֶתְכֶ֔ם מִכֹּ֖ל טֻמְאֽוֹתֵיכֶ֑ם וְקָרָ֤אתִי אֶל הַדָּגָן֙ וְהִרְבֵּיתִ֣י אֹת֔וֹ וְלֹא אֶתֵּ֥ן עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם רָעָֽב

I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.

וְהִרְבֵּיתִי֙ אֶת פְּרִ֣י הָעֵ֔ץ וּתְנוּבַ֖ת הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה לְמַ֗עַן אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹ֣א תִקְח֥וּ ע֛וֹד חֶרְפַּ֥ת רָעָ֖ב בַּגּוֹיִֽם

And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that you shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen.

וּזְכַרְתֶּם֙ אֶת דַּרְכֵיכֶ֣ם הָרָעִ֔ים וּמַעַלְלֵיכֶ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא טוֹבִ֑ים וּנְקֹֽטֹתֶם֙ בִּפְנֵיכֶ֔ם עַ֚ל עֲוֺנֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם וְעַ֖ל תּוֹעֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶֽם

Then shall you remember your own evil ways, and your doings that not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

לֹ֧א לְמַעַנְכֶ֣ם אֲנִֽי עֹשֶׂ֗ה נְאֻם֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה יִוָּדַ֖ע לָכֶ֑ם בּ֧וֹשׁוּ וְהִכָּלְמ֛וּ מִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֖ם בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל

Not for your sakes do I , says YHWH YHWH, be it known to you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.

כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה בְּיוֹם֙ טַהֲרִ֣י אֶתְכֶ֔ם מִכֹּ֖ל עֲוֺנֽוֹתֵיכֶ֑ם וְהֽוֹשַׁבְתִּי֙ אֶת הֶ֣עָרִ֔ים וְנִבְנ֖וּ הֶחֳרָבֽוֹת

Thus says YHWH YHWH; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded.

וְהָאָ֥רֶץ הַנְּשַׁמָּ֖ה תֵּֽעָבֵ֑ד תַּ֚חַת אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָיְתָ֣ה שְׁמָמָ֔ה לְעֵינֵ֖י כָּל עוֹבֵֽר

And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by.

וְאָמְר֗וּ הָאָ֤רֶץ הַלֵּ֨זוּ֙ הַנְּשַׁמָּ֔ה הָיְתָ֖ה כְּגַן עֵ֑דֶן וְהֶעָרִ֧ים הֶחֳרֵב֛וֹת וְהַֽנְשַׁמּ֥וֹת וְהַנֶּהֱרָס֖וֹת בְּצוּר֥וֹת יָשָֽׁבוּ

And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities fenced, are inhabited.

וְיָדְע֣וּ הַגּוֹיִ֗ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִֽשָּׁאֲרוּ֮ סְבִיבוֹתֵיכֶם֒ כִּ֣י אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֗ה בָּנִ֨יתִי֙ הַנֶּ֣הֱרָס֔וֹת נָטַ֖עְתִּי הַנְּשַׁמָּ֑ה אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי וְעָשִֽׂיתִי

Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I YHWH build the ruined plant that that was desolate: I YHWH have spoken , and I will do .

כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה ע֗וֹד זֹ֛את אִדָּרֵ֥שׁ לְבֵֽית יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת לָהֶ֑ם אַרְבֶּ֥ה אֹתָ֛ם כַּצֹּ֖אן אָדָֽם

Thus says YHWH YHWH; I will yet this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.

כְּצֹ֣אן קָֽדָשִׁ֗ים כְּצֹ֤אן יְרוּשָׁלִַ֨ם֙ בְּמ֣וֹעֲדֶ֔יהָ כֵּ֤ן תִּהְיֶ֨ינָה֙ הֶעָרִ֣ים הֶחֳרֵב֔וֹת מְלֵא֖וֹת צֹ֣אן אָדָ֑ם וְיָדְע֖וּ כִּֽי אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה

As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I YHWH.
