The Book of Ezekiel, Chapter 10יחזקאל 10

וָאֶרְאֶ֗ה וְהִנֵּ֤ה אֶל הָרָקִ֨יעַ֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ עַל רֹ֣אשׁ הַכְּרֻבִ֔ים כְּאֶ֣בֶן סַפִּ֔יר כְּמַרְאֵ֖ה דְּמ֣וּת כִּסֵּ֑א נִרְאָ֖ה עֲלֵיהֶֽם

Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.

וַיֹּ֜אמֶר אֶל הָאִ֣ישׁ לְבֻ֣שׁ הַבַּדִּ֗ים וַיֹּ֡אמֶר בֹּא֩ אֶל בֵּינ֨וֹת לַגַּלְגַּ֜ל אֶל תַּ֣חַת לַכְּר֗וּב וּמַלֵּ֨א חָפְנֶ֤יךָ גַֽחֲלֵי אֵשׁ֙ מִבֵּינ֣וֹת לַכְּרֻבִ֔ים וּזְרֹ֖ק עַל הָעִ֑יר וַיָּבֹ֖א לְעֵינָֽי

And he spake to the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, under the cherub, and fill your hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter over the city. And he went in in my sight.

וְהַכְּרֻבִ֗ים עֹֽמְדִ֛ים מִימִ֥ין לַבַּ֖יִת בְּבֹא֣וֹ הָאִ֑ישׁ וְהֶעָנָ֣ן מָלֵ֔א אֶת הֶחָצֵ֖ר הַפְּנִימִֽית

Now the cherubims stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court.

וַיָּ֤רָם כְּבוֹד יְהוָה֙ מֵעַ֣ל הַכְּר֔וּב עַ֖ל מִפְתַּ֣ן הַבָּ֑יִת וַיִּמָּלֵ֤א הַבַּ֨יִת֙ אֶת הֶ֣עָנָ֔ן וְהֶֽחָצֵר֙ מָֽלְאָ֔ה אֶת נֹ֖גַהּ כְּב֥וֹד יְהוָֽה

Then the glory of YHWH went up from the cherub, over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of YHWH's glory.

וְקוֹל֙ כַּנְפֵ֣י הַכְּרוּבִ֔ים נִשְׁמַ֕ע עַד הֶחָצֵ֖ר הַחִיצֹנָ֑ה כְּק֥וֹל אֵל שַׁדַּ֖י בְּדַבְּרֽוֹ

And the sound of the cherubims' wings was heard to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh.

וַיְהִ֗י בְּצַוֺּתוֹ֙ אֶת הָאִ֤ישׁ לְבֻֽשׁ הַבַּדִּים֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר קַ֥ח אֵשׁ֙ מִבֵּינ֣וֹת לַגַּלְגַּ֔ל מִבֵּינ֖וֹת לַכְּרוּבִ֑ים וַיָּבֹא֙ וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֔ד אֵ֖צֶל הָאוֹפָֽן

And it came to pass, when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels.

וַיִּשְׁלַח֩ הַכְּר֨וּב אֶת יָד֜וֹ מִבֵּינ֣וֹת לַכְּרוּבִ֗ים אֶל הָאֵשׁ֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ בֵּינ֣וֹת הַכְּרֻבִ֔ים וַיִּשָּׂא֙ וַיִּתֵּ֔ן אֶל חָפְנֵ֖י לְבֻ֣שׁ הַבַּדִּ֑ים וַיִּקַּ֖ח וַיֵּצֵֽא

And cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubims to the fire that between the cherubims, and took , and put into the hands of clothed with linen: who took , and went out.

וַיֵּרָ֖א לַכְּרֻבִ֑ים תַּבְנִית֙ יַד אָדָ֔ם תַּ֖חַת כַּנְפֵיהֶֽם

And there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man's hand under their wings.

וָאֶרְאֶ֗ה וְהִנֵּ֨ה אַרְבָּעָ֣ה אוֹפַנִּים֮ אֵ֣צֶל הַכְּרוּבִים֒ אוֹפַ֣ן אֶחָ֗ד אֵ֚צֶל הַכְּר֣וּב אֶחָ֔ד וְאוֹפַ֣ן אֶחָ֔ד אֵ֖צֶל הַכְּר֣וּב אֶחָ֑ד וּמַרְאֵה֙ הָא֣וֹפַנִּ֔ים כְּעֵ֖ין אֶ֥בֶן תַּרְשִֽׁישׁ

And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels as the colour of a beryl stone.

וּמַ֨רְאֵיהֶ֔ם דְּמ֥וּת אֶחָ֖ד לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֑ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר יִהְיֶ֥ה הָאוֹפַ֖ן בְּת֥וֹךְ הָאוֹפָֽן

And their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel.

בְּלֶכְתָּ֗ם אֶל אַרְבַּ֤עַת רִבְעֵיהֶם֙ יֵלֵ֔כוּ לֹ֥א יִסַּ֖בּוּ בְּלֶכְתָּ֑ם כִּ֣י הַמָּק֞וֹם אֲשֶׁר יִפְנֶ֤ה הָרֹאשׁ֙ אַחֲרָ֣יו יֵלֵ֔כוּ לֹ֥א יִסַּ֖בּוּ בְּלֶכְתָּֽם

When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went.

וְכָל בְּשָׂרָם֙ וְגַבֵּהֶ֔ם וִֽידֵיהֶ֖ם וְכַנְפֵיהֶ֑ם וְהָאֽוֹפַנִּ֗ים מְלֵאִ֤ים עֵינַ֨יִם֙ סָבִ֔יב לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֖ם אוֹפַנֵּיהֶֽם

And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, full of eyes round about, the wheels that they four had.

לָא֖וֹפַנִּ֑ים לָהֶ֛ם קוֹרָ֥א הַגַּלְגַּ֖ל בְּאָזְנָֽי

As for the wheels, it was cried to them in my hearing, O wheel.

וְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה פָנִ֖ים לְאֶחָ֑ד פְּנֵ֨י הָאֶחָ֜ד פְּנֵ֣י הַכְּר֗וּב וּפְנֵ֤י הַשֵּׁנִי֙ פְּנֵ֣י אָדָ֔ם וְהַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙ פְּנֵ֣י אַרְיֵ֔ה וְהָרְבִיעִ֖י פְּנֵי נָֽשֶׁר

And every one had four faces: the first face the face of a cherub, and the second face the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

וַיֵּרֹ֖מּוּ הַכְּרוּבִ֑ים הִ֣יא הַחַיָּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר רָאִ֖יתִי בִּֽנְהַר כְּבָֽר

And the cherubims were lifted up. This the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar.

וּבְלֶ֨כֶת֙ הַכְּרוּבִ֔ים יֵלְכ֥וּ הָאוֹפַנִּ֖ים אֶצְלָ֑ם וּבִשְׂאֵ֨ת הַכְּרוּבִ֜ים אֶת כַּנְפֵיהֶ֗ם לָרוּם֙ מֵעַ֣ל הָאָ֔רֶץ לֹא יִסַּ֧בּוּ הָאוֹפַנִּ֛ים גַּם הֵ֖ם מֵאֶצְלָֽם

And when the cherubims went, the wheels went by them: and when the cherubims lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them.

בְּעָמְדָ֣ם יַעֲמֹ֔דוּ וּבְרוֹמָ֖ם יֵר֣וֹמּוּ אוֹתָ֑ם כִּ֛י ר֥וּחַ הַחַיָּ֖ה בָּהֶֽם

When they stood, stood; and when they were lifted up, lifted up themselves : for the spirit of the living creature in them.

וַיֵּצֵא֙ כְּב֣וֹד יְהוָ֔ה מֵעַ֖ל מִפְתַּ֣ן הַבָּ֑יִת וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד עַל הַכְּרוּבִֽים

Then the glory of YHWH departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims.

וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ הַכְּרוּבִ֣ים אֶת כַּ֠נְפֵיהֶם וַיֵּר֨וֹמּוּ מִן הָאָ֤רֶץ לְעֵינַי֙ בְּצֵאתָ֔ם וְהָאֽוֹפַנִּ֖ים לְעֻמָּתָ֑ם וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֗ד פֶּ֣תַח שַׁ֤עַר בֵּית יְהוָה֙ הַקַּדְמוֹנִ֔י וּכְב֧וֹד אֱלֹהֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם מִלְמָֽעְלָה

And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also beside them, and stood at the door of the east gate of YHWH's house; and the glory of the God of Israel over them above.

הִ֣יא הַחַיָּ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר רָאִ֛יתִי תַּ֥חַת אֱלֹהֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בִּֽנְהַר כְּבָ֑ר וָאֵדַ֕ע כִּ֥י כְרוּבִ֖ים הֵֽמָּה

This the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they the cherubims.

אַרְבָּעָ֨ה אַרְבָּעָ֤ה פָנִים֙ לְאֶחָ֔ד וְאַרְבַּ֥ע כְּנָפַ֖יִם לְאֶחָ֑ד וּדְמוּת֙ יְדֵ֣י אָדָ֔ם תַּ֖חַת כַּנְפֵיהֶֽם

Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man under their wings.

וּדְמ֣וּת פְּנֵיהֶ֔ם הֵ֣מָּה הַפָּנִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר רָאִ֨יתִי֙ עַל נְהַר כְּבָ֔ר מַרְאֵיהֶ֖ם וְאוֹתָ֑ם אִ֛ישׁ אֶל עֵ֥בֶר פָּנָ֖יו יֵלֵֽכוּ

And the likeness of their faces the same faces which I saw by the river of Chebar, their appearances and themselves: they went every one straight forward.
