וְאִשָּׁ֣ה אַחַ֣ת מִנְּשֵׁ֣י בְנֵֽי הַ֠נְּבִיאִים צָעֲקָ֨ה אֶל אֱלִישָׁ֜ע לֵאמֹ֗ר עַבְדְּךָ֤ אִישִׁי֙ מֵ֔ת וְאַתָּ֣ה יָדַ֔עְתָּ כִּ֣י עַבְדְּךָ֔ הָיָ֥ה יָרֵ֖א אֶת יְהוָ֑ה וְהַ֨נֹּשֶׁ֔ה בָּ֗א לָקַ֜חַת אֶת שְׁנֵ֧י יְלָדַ֛י ל֖וֹ לַעֲבָדִֽים

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets to Elisha, saying, Your servant my husband is dead; and you knowest that your servant did fear YHWH: and the creditor is come to take to him my two sons to be bondmen.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלֶ֤יהָ אֱלִישָׁע֙ מָ֣ה אֶֽעֱשֶׂה לָּ֔ךְ הַגִּ֣ידִי לִ֔י מַה יֶּשׁ לכי לָ֖ךְ בַּבָּ֑יִת וַתֹּ֗אמֶר אֵ֣ין לְשִׁפְחָתְךָ֥ כֹל֙ בַּבַּ֔יִת כִּ֖י אִם אָס֥וּךְ שָֽׁמֶן

And Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? tell me, what have you in the house? And she said, Your handmaid has not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר לְכִ֨י שַׁאֲלִי לָ֤ךְ כֵּלִים֙ מִן הַח֔וּץ מֵאֵ֖ת כָּל שכנכי שְׁכֵנָ֑יִךְ כֵּלִ֥ים רֵקִ֖ים אַל תַּמְעִֽיטִי

Then he said, Go, borrow you vessels abroad of all your neighbours, empty vessels; borrow not a few.

וּבָ֗את וְסָגַ֤רְתְּ הַדֶּ֨לֶת֙ בַּעֲדֵ֣ךְ וּבְעַד בָּנַ֔יִךְ וְיָצַ֕קְתְּ עַ֥ל כָּל הַכֵּלִ֖ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה וְהַמָּלֵ֖א תַּסִּֽיעִי

And when you are come in, you shall shut the door upon you and upon your sons, and shall pour out into all those vessels, and you shall set aside that which is full.

וַתֵּ֨לֶךְ֙ מֵֽאִתּ֔וֹ וַתִּסְגֹּ֣ר הַדֶּ֔לֶת בַּעֲדָ֖הּ וּבְעַ֣ד בָּנֶ֑יהָ הֵ֛ם מַגִּשִׁ֥ים אֵלֶ֖יהָ וְהִ֥יא מיצקת מוֹצָֽקֶת

So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought to her; and she poured out.

וַיְהִ֣י כִּמְלֹ֣את הַכֵּלִ֗ים וַתֹּ֤אמֶר אֶל בְּנָהּ֙ הַגִּ֨ישָׁה אֵלַ֥י עוֹד֙ כֶּ֔לִי וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלֶ֔יהָ אֵ֥ין ע֖וֹד כֶּ֑לִי וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד הַשָּֽׁמֶן

And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said to her, not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.

וַתָּבֹ֗א וַתַּגֵּד֙ לְאִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים וַיֹּ֗אמֶר לְכִי֙ מִכְרִ֣י אֶת הַשֶּׁ֔מֶן וְשַׁלְּמִ֖י אֶת נשיכי נִשְׁיֵ֑ךְ וְאַ֣תְּ בניכי וּבָנַ֔יִךְ תִֽחְיִ֖י בַּנּוֹתָֽר

Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay your debt, and live you and your children of the rest.

וַיְהִ֨י הַיּ֜וֹם וַיַּעֲבֹ֧ר אֱלִישָׁ֣ע אֶל שׁוּנֵ֗ם וְשָׁם֙ אִשָּׁ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֔ה וַתַּחֲזֶק בּ֖וֹ לֶאֱכָל לָ֑חֶם וַֽיְהִי֙ מִדֵּ֣י עָבְר֔וֹ יָסֻ֥ר שָׁ֖מָּה לֶאֱכָל לָֽחֶם

And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And it was, as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread.

וַתֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֶל אִישָׁ֔הּ הִנֵּה נָ֣א יָדַ֔עְתִּי כִּ֛י אִ֥ישׁ אֱלֹהִ֖ים קָד֣וֹשׁ ה֑וּא עֹבֵ֥ר עָלֵ֖ינוּ תָּמִֽיד

And she said to her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually.

נַֽעֲשֶׂה נָּ֤א עֲלִיַּת קִיר֙ קְטַנָּ֔ה וְנָשִׂ֨ים ל֥וֹ שָׁ֛ם מִטָּ֥ה וְשֻׁלְחָ֖ן וְכִסֵּ֣א וּמְנוֹרָ֑ה וְהָיָ֛ה בְּבֹא֥וֹ אֵלֵ֖ינוּ יָס֥וּר שָֽׁמָּה

Let us make a little chamber, I pray you, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.

וַיְהִ֥י הַיּ֖וֹם וַיָּ֣בֹא שָׁ֑מָּה וַיָּ֥סַר אֶל הָעֲלִיָּ֖ה וַיִּשְׁכַּב שָֽׁמָּה

And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֶל גֵּחֲזִ֣י נַעֲר֔וֹ קְרָ֖א לַשּׁוּנַמִּ֣ית הַזֹּ֑את וַיִּקְרָא לָ֔הּ וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖ד לְפָנָֽיו

And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ אֱמָר נָ֣א אֵלֶיהָ֮ הִנֵּ֣ה חָרַ֣דְתְּ אֵלֵינוּ֮ אֶת כָּל הַחֲרָדָ֣ה הַזֹּאת֒ מֶ֚ה לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת לָ֔ךְ הֲיֵ֤שׁ לְדַבֶּר לָךְ֙ אֶל הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ א֖וֹ אֶל שַׂ֣ר הַצָּבָ֑א וַתֹּ֕אמֶר בְּת֥וֹךְ עַמִּ֖י אָנֹכִ֥י יֹשָֽׁבֶת

And he said to him, Say now to her, Behold, you have been careful for us with all this care; what to be done for you? wouldest you be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.

וַיֹּ֕אמֶר וּמֶ֖ה לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת לָ֑הּ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר גֵּיחֲזִ֗י אֲבָ֛ל בֵּ֥ן אֵֽין לָ֖הּ וְאִישָׁ֥הּ זָקֵֽן

And he said, What then to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she has no child, and her husband is old.

וַיֹּ֖אמֶר קְרָא לָ֑הּ וַיִּקְרָא לָ֔הּ וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖ד בַּפָּֽתַח

And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door.

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר לַמּוֹעֵ֤ד הַזֶּה֙ כָּעֵ֣ת חַיָּ֔ה אתי אַ֖תְּ חֹבֶ֣קֶת בֵּ֑ן וַתֹּ֗אמֶר אַל אֲדֹנִי֙ אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים אַל תְּכַזֵּ֖ב בְּשִׁפְחָתֶֽךָ

And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, you shall embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, man of God, do not lie to your handmaid.

וַתַּ֥הַר הָאִשָּׁ֖ה וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֑ן לַמּוֹעֵ֤ד הַזֶּה֙ כָּעֵ֣ת חַיָּ֔ה אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּ֥ר אֵלֶ֖יהָ אֱלִישָֽׁע

And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said to her, according to the time of life.

וַיִּגְדַּ֖ל הַיָּ֑לֶד וַיְהִ֣י הַיּ֔וֹם וַיֵּצֵ֥א אֶל אָבִ֖יו אֶל הַקֹּצְרִֽים

And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers.

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֶל אָבִ֖יו רֹאשִׁ֣י רֹאשִׁ֑י וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֶל הַנַּ֔עַר שָׂאֵ֖הוּ אֶל אִמּֽוֹ

And he said to his father, My head, my head. And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother.

וַיִּשָּׂאֵ֔הוּ וַיְבִיאֵ֖הוּ אֶל אִמּ֑וֹ וַיֵּ֧שֶׁב עַל בִּרְכֶּ֛יהָ עַד הַֽצָּהֳרַ֖יִם וַיָּמֹֽת

And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and died.

וַתַּ֨עַל֙ וַתַּשְׁכִּבֵ֔הוּ עַל מִטַּ֖ת אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וַתִּסְגֹּ֥ר בַּעֲד֖וֹ וַתֵּצֵֽא

And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut upon him, and went out.

וַתִּקְרָא֮ אֶל אִישָׁהּ֒ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר שִׁלְחָ֨ה נָ֥א לִי֙ אֶחָ֣ד מִן הַנְּעָרִ֔ים וְאַחַ֖ת הָאֲתֹנ֑וֹת וְאָר֛וּצָה עַד אִ֥ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים וְאָשֽׁוּבָה

And she called to her husband, and said, Send me, I pray you, one of the young men, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again.

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר מַ֠דּוּעַ אתי אַ֣תְּ הלכתי הֹלֶ֤כֶת אֵלָיו֙ הַיּ֔וֹם לֹֽא חֹ֖דֶשׁ וְלֹ֣א שַׁבָּ֑ת וַתֹּ֖אמֶר שָׁלֽוֹם

And he said, Wherefore will you go to him to day? neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, well.

וַֽתַּחֲבֹשׁ֙ הָֽאָת֔וֹן וַתֹּ֥אמֶר אֶֽל נַעֲרָ֖הּ נְהַ֣ג וָלֵ֑ךְ אַל תַּעֲצָר לִ֣י לִרְכֹּ֔ב כִּ֖י אִם אָמַ֥רְתִּי לָֽךְ

Then she saddled an ass, and said to her servant, Drive, and go forward; slack not riding for me, except I bid you.

וַתֵּ֗לֶךְ וַתָּב֛וֹא אֶל אִ֥ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶל הַ֣ר הַכַּרְמֶ֑ל וַ֠יְהִי כִּרְא֨וֹת אִישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֤ים אֹתָהּ֙ מִנֶּ֔גֶד וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֶל גֵּיחֲזִ֣י נַעֲר֔וֹ הִנֵּ֖ה הַשּׁוּנַמִּ֥ית הַלָּֽז

So she went and came to the man of God to mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, that Shunammite:

עַתָּה֮ רֽוּץ נָ֣א לִקְרָאתָהּ֒ וֶאֱמָר לָ֗הּ הֲשָׁל֥וֹם לָ֛ךְ הֲשָׁל֥וֹם לְאִישֵׁ֖ךְ הֲשָׁל֣וֹם לַיָּ֑לֶד וַתֹּ֖אמֶר שָׁלֽוֹם

Run now, I pray you, to meet her, and say to her, well with you? well with your husband? well with the child? And she answered, well.

וַתָּבֹ֞א אֶל אִ֤ישׁ הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ אֶל הָהָ֔ר וַֽתַּחֲזֵ֖ק בְּרַגְלָ֑יו וַיִּגַּ֨שׁ גֵּֽיחֲזִ֜י לְהָדְפָ֗הּ וַיֹּאמֶר֩ אִ֨ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֤ים הַרְפֵּֽה לָהּ֙ כִּֽי נַפְשָׁ֣הּ מָֽרָה לָ֔הּ וַֽיהוָה֙ הֶעְלִ֣ים מִמֶּ֔נִּי וְלֹ֥א הִגִּ֖יד לִֽי

And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul vexed within her: and YHWH has hid from me, and has not told me.

וַתֹּ֕אמֶר הֲשָׁאַ֥לְתִּי בֵ֖ן מֵאֵ֣ת אֲדֹנִ֑י הֲלֹ֣א אָמַ֔רְתִּי לֹ֥א תַשְׁלֶ֖ה אֹתִֽי

Then she said, Did I desire a son of my lord? did I not say, Do not deceive me?

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לְגֵיחֲזִ֜י חֲגֹ֣ר מָתְנֶ֗יךָ וְקַ֨ח מִשְׁעַנְתִּ֣י בְיָדְךָ֮ וָלֵךְ֒ כִּֽי תִמְצָ֥א אִישׁ֙ לֹ֣א תְבָרְכֶ֔נּוּ וְכִֽי יְבָרֶכְךָ֥ אִ֖ישׁ לֹ֣א תַעֲנֶנּ֑וּ וְשַׂמְתָּ֥ מִשְׁעַנְתִּ֖י עַל פְּנֵ֥י הַנָּֽעַר

Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up your loins, and take my staff in your hand, and go your way: if you meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute you, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child.

וַתֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֵ֣ם הַנַּ֔עַר חַי יְהוָ֥ה וְחֵֽי נַפְשְׁךָ֖ אִם אֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ וַיָּ֖קָם וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ אַחֲרֶֽיהָ

And the mother of the child said, YHWH liveth, and your soul liveth, I will not leave you. And he arose, and followed her.

וְגֵחֲזִ֞י עָבַ֣ר לִפְנֵיהֶ֗ם וַיָּ֤שֶׂם אֶת הַמִּשְׁעֶ֨נֶת֙ עַל פְּנֵ֣י הַנַּ֔עַר וְאֵ֥ין ק֖וֹל וְאֵ֣ין קָ֑שֶׁב וַיָּ֤שָׁב לִקְרָאתוֹ֙ וַיַּגֶּד ל֣וֹ לֵאמֹ֔ר לֹ֥א הֵקִ֖יץ הַנָּֽעַר

And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child; but neither voice, nor hearing. Wherefore he went again to meet him, and told him, saying, The child is not awaked.

וַיָּבֹ֥א אֱלִישָׁ֖ע הַבָּ֑יְתָה וְהִנֵּ֤ה הַנַּ֨עַר֙ מֵ֔ת מֻשְׁכָּ֖ב עַל מִטָּתֽוֹ

And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, laid upon his bed.

וַיָּבֹ֕א וַיִּסְגֹּ֥ר הַדֶּ֖לֶת בְּעַ֣ד שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֖ל אֶל יְהוָֽה

He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed to YHWH.

וַיַּ֜עַל וַיִּשְׁכַּ֣ב עַל הַיֶּ֗לֶד וַיָּשֶׂם֩ פִּ֨יו עַל פִּ֜יו וְעֵינָ֤יו עַל עֵינָיו֙ וְכַפָּ֣יו עַל כפו כַּפָּ֔יו וַיִּגְהַ֖ר עָלָ֑יו וַיָּ֖חָם בְּשַׂ֥ר הַיָּֽלֶד

And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm.

וַיָּ֜שָׁב וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ בַּבַּ֗יִת אַחַ֥ת הֵ֨נָּה֙ וְאַחַ֣ת הֵ֔נָּה וַיַּ֖עַל וַיִּגְהַ֣ר עָלָ֑יו וַיְזוֹרֵ֤ר הַנַּ֨עַר֙ עַד שֶׁ֣בַע פְּעָמִ֔ים וַיִּפְקַ֥ח הַנַּ֖עַר אֶת עֵינָֽיו

Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.

וַיִּקְרָ֣א אֶל גֵּיחֲזִ֗י וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ קְרָא֙ אֶל הַשֻּׁנַמִּ֣ית הַזֹּ֔את וַיִּקְרָאֶ֖הָ וַתָּב֣וֹא אֵלָ֑יו וַיֹּ֖אמֶר שְׂאִ֥י בְנֵֽךְ

And he called Gehazi, and said, Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And when she was come in to him, he said, Take up your son.

וַתָּבֹא֙ וַתִּפֹּ֣ל עַל רַגְלָ֔יו וַתִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ אָ֑רְצָה וַתִּשָּׂ֥א אֶת בְּנָ֖הּ וַתֵּצֵֽא

Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground, and took up her son, and went out.

וֶאֱלִישָׁ֞ע שָׁ֤ב הַגִּלְגָּ֨לָה֙ וְהָרָעָ֣ב בָּאָ֔רֶץ וּבְנֵי֙ הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים יֹשְׁבִ֖ים לְפָנָ֑יו וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְנַעֲר֗וֹ שְׁפֹת֙ הַסִּ֣יר הַגְּדוֹלָ֔ה וּבַשֵּׁ֥ל נָזִ֖יד לִבְנֵ֥י הַנְּבִיאִֽים

And Elisha came again to Gilgal: and a dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets sitting before him: and he said to his servant, Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the sons of the prophets.

וַיֵּצֵ֨א אֶחָ֣ד אֶל הַשָּׂדֶה֮ לְלַקֵּ֣ט אֹרֹת֒ וַיִּמְצָא֙ גֶּ֣פֶן שָׂדֶ֔ה וַיְלַקֵּ֥ט מִמֶּ֛נּוּ פַּקֻּעֹ֥ת שָׂדֶ֖ה מְלֹ֣א בִגְד֑וֹ וַיָּבֹ֗א וַיְפַלַּ֛ח אֶל סִ֥יר הַנָּזִ֖יד כִּֽי לֹ֥א יָדָֽעוּ

And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred into the pot of pottage: for they knew not.

וַיִּֽצְק֥וּ לַאֲנָשִׁ֖ים לֶאֱכ֑וֹל וַ֠יְהִי כְּאָכְלָ֨ם מֵהַנָּזִ֜יד וְהֵ֣מָּה צָעָ֗קוּ וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ מָ֤וֶת בַּסִּיר֙ אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים וְלֹ֥א יָכְל֖וּ לֶאֱכֹֽל

So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O man of God, death in the pot. And they could not eat .

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ וּקְחוּ קֶ֔מַח וַיַּשְׁלֵ֖ךְ אֶל הַסִּ֑יר וַיֹּ֗אמֶר צַ֤ק לָעָם֙ וְיֹאכֵ֔לוּ וְלֹ֥א הָיָ֛ה דָּבָ֥ר רָ֖ע בַּסִּֽיר

But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.

וְאִ֨ישׁ בָּ֜א מִבַּ֣עַל שָׁלִ֗שָׁה וַיָּבֵא֩ לְאִ֨ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֜ים לֶ֤חֶם בִּכּוּרִים֙ עֶשְׂרִֽים לֶ֣חֶם שְׂעֹרִ֔ים וְכַרְמֶ֖ל בְּצִקְלֹנ֑וֹ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר תֵּ֥ן לָעָ֖ם וְיֹאכֵֽלוּ

And there came a man from Baalshalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof. And he said, Give to the people, that they may eat.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ מְשָׁ֣רְת֔וֹ מָ֚ה אֶתֵּ֣ן זֶ֔ה לִפְנֵ֖י מֵ֣אָה אִ֑ישׁ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר תֵּ֤ן לָעָם֙ וְיֹאכֵ֔לוּ כִּ֣י כֹ֥ה אָמַ֛ר יְהוָ֖ה אָכֹ֥ל וְהוֹתֵֽר

And his servitor said, What, should I set this before an hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: for thus says YHWH, They shall eat, and shall leave .

וַיִּתֵּ֧ן לִפְנֵיהֶ֛ם וַיֹּאכְל֥וּ וַיּוֹתִ֖רוּ כִּדְבַ֥ר יְהוָֽה

So he set before them, and they did eat, and left , according to the word of YHWH.
