The Book of Psalms, Chapter 17תהלים 17

תְּפִלָּ֗ה לְדָ֫וִ֥ד שִׁמְעָ֤ה יְהוָ֨ה צֶ֗דֶק הַקְשִׁ֥יבָה רִנָּתִ֗י הַאֲזִ֥ינָה תְפִלָּתִ֑י בְּ֝לֹ֗א שִׂפְתֵ֥י מִרְמָֽה

[A Prayer of David.] Hear the right, O YHWH, attend to my cry, give ear to my prayer, not out of feigned lips.

מִ֭לְּפָנֶיךָ מִשְׁפָּטִ֣י יֵצֵ֑א עֵ֝ינֶ֗יךָ תֶּחֱזֶ֥ינָה מֵישָׁרִֽים

Let my sentence come forth from your presence; let your eyes behold the things that are equal.

בָּ֘חַ֤נְתָּ לִבִּ֨י פָּ֘קַ֤דְתָּ לַּ֗יְלָה צְרַפְתַּ֥נִי בַל תִּמְצָ֑א זַ֝מֹּתִ֗י בַּל יַעֲבָר פִּֽי

You have proved mine heart; you have visited in the night; you have tried me, shall find nothing; I am purposed my mouth shall not transgress.

לִפְעֻלּ֣וֹת אָ֭דָם בִּדְבַ֣ר שְׂפָתֶ֑יךָ אֲנִ֥י שָׁ֝מַ֗רְתִּי אָרְח֥וֹת פָּרִֽיץ

Concerning the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept the paths of the destroyer.

תָּמֹ֣ךְ אֲ֭שֻׁרַי בְּמַעְגְּלוֹתֶ֑יךָ בַּל נָמ֥וֹטּוּ פְעָמָֽי

Hold up my goings in your paths, my footsteps slip not.

אֲנִֽי קְרָאתִ֣יךָ כִֽי תַעֲנֵ֣נִי אֵ֑ל הַֽט אָזְנְךָ֥ לִ֝֗י שְׁמַ֣ע אִמְרָתִֽי

I have called upon you, for you will hear me, O God: incline your ear to me, my speech.

הַפְלֵ֣ה חֲ֭סָדֶיךָ מוֹשִׁ֣יעַ חוֹסִ֑ים מִ֝מִּתְקוֹמְמִ֗ים בִּֽימִינֶֽךָ

Shew your marvellous lovingkindness, O you that savest by your right hand them which put their trust from those that rise up .

שָׁ֭מְרֵנִי כְּאִישׁ֣וֹן בַּת עָ֑יִן בְּצֵ֥ל כְּ֝נָפֶ֗יךָ תַּסְתִּירֵֽנִי

Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of your wings,

מִפְּנֵ֣י רְ֭שָׁעִים ז֣וּ שַׁדּ֑וּנִי אֹיְבַ֥י בְּ֝נֶ֗פֶשׁ יַקִּ֥יפוּ עָלָֽי

From the wicked that oppress me, my deadly enemies, compass me about.

חֶלְבָּ֥מוֹ סָּגְר֑וּ פִּ֝֗ימוֹ דִּבְּר֥וּ בְגֵאֽוּת

They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

אַ֭שֻּׁרֵינוּ עַתָּ֣ה סבבוני סְבָב֑וּנוּ עֵינֵיהֶ֥ם יָ֝שִׁ֗יתוּ לִנְט֥וֹת בָּאָֽרֶץ

They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;

דִּמְיֹנ֗וֹ כְּ֭אַרְיֵה יִכְס֣וֹף לִטְר֑וֹף וְ֝כִכְפִ֗יר יֹשֵׁ֥ב בְּמִסְתָּרִֽים

Like as a lion is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

קוּמָ֤ה יְהוָ֗ה קַדְּמָ֣ה פָ֭נָיו הַכְרִיעֵ֑הוּ פַּלְּטָ֥ה נַ֝פְשִׁ֗י מֵרָשָׁ֥ע חַרְבֶּֽךָ

Arise, O YHWH, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, your sword:

מִֽמְתִ֥ים יָדְךָ֨ יְהוָ֡ה מִֽמְתִ֬ים מֵחֶ֗לֶד חֶלְקָ֥ם בַּֽחַיִּים֮ וצפינך וּֽצְפוּנְךָ֮ תְּמַלֵּ֪א בִ֫טְנָ֥ם יִשְׂבְּע֥וּ בָנִ֑ים וְהִנִּ֥יחוּ יִ֝תְרָ֗ם לְעוֹלְלֵיהֶֽם

From men your hand, O YHWH, from men of the world, their portion in life, and whose belly you fillest with your hid : they are full of children, and leave the rest of their to their babes.

אֲנִ֗י בְּ֭צֶדֶק אֶחֱזֶ֣ה פָנֶ֑יךָ אֶשְׂבְּעָ֥ה בְ֝הָקִ֗יץ תְּמוּנָתֶֽךָ

As for me, I will behold your face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with your likeness.
