The Book of Micah, Chapter 7מיכה 7

אַ֣לְלַי לִ֗י כִּ֤י הָיִ֨יתִי֙ כְּאָסְפֵּי קַ֔יִץ כְּעֹלְלֹ֖ת בָּצִ֑יר אֵין אֶשְׁכּ֣וֹל לֶאֱכ֔וֹל בִּכּוּרָ֖ה אִוְּתָ֥ה נַפְשִֽׁי

Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.

אָבַ֤ד חָסִיד֙ מִן הָאָ֔רֶץ וְיָשָׁ֥ר בָּאָדָ֖ם אָ֑יִן כֻּלָּם֙ לְדָמִ֣ים יֶאֱרֹ֔בוּ אִ֥ישׁ אֶת אָחִ֖יהוּ יָצ֥וּדוּ חֵֽרֶם

The good is perished out of the earth: and none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

עַל הָרַ֤ע כַּפַּ֨יִם֙ לְהֵיטִ֔יב הַשַּׂ֣ר שֹׁאֵ֔ל וְהַשֹּׁפֵ֖ט בַּשִׁלּ֑וּם וְהַגָּד֗וֹל דֹּבֵ֨ר הַוַּ֥ת נַפְשׁ֛וֹ ה֖וּא וַֽיְעַבְּתֽוּהָ

That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge for a reward; and the great , he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

טוֹבָ֣ם כְּחֵ֔דֶק יָשָׁ֖ר מִמְּסוּכָ֑ה י֤וֹם מְצַפֶּ֨יךָ֙ פְּקֻדָּתְךָ֣ בָ֔אָה עַתָּ֥ה תִהְיֶ֖ה מְבוּכָתָֽם

The best of them as a brier: the most upright than a thorn hedge: the day of your watchmen your visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

אַל תַּאֲמִ֣ינוּ בְרֵ֔עַ אַֽל תִּבְטְח֖וּ בְּאַלּ֑וּף מִשֹּׁכֶ֣בֶת חֵיקֶ֔ךָ שְׁמֹ֖ר פִּתְחֵי פִֽיךָ

Trust you not in a friend, put you not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of your mouth from her that lieth in your bosom.

כִּֽי בֵן֙ מְנַבֵּ֣ל אָ֔ב בַּ֚ת קָמָ֣ה בְאִמָּ֔הּ כַּלָּ֖ה בַּחֲמֹתָ֑הּ אֹיְבֵ֥י אִ֖ישׁ אַנְשֵׁ֥י בֵיתֽוֹ

For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies the men of his own house.

וַאֲנִי֙ בַּיהוָ֣ה אֲצַפֶּ֔ה אוֹחִ֖ילָה לֵאלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׁעִ֑י יִשְׁמָעֵ֖נִי אֱלֹהָֽי

Therefore I will look to YHWH; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

אַֽל תִּשְׂמְחִ֤י אֹיַ֨בְתִּי֙ לִ֔י כִּ֥י נָפַ֖לְתִּי קָ֑מְתִּי כִּֽי אֵשֵׁ֣ב בַּחֹ֔שֶׁךְ יְהוָ֖ה א֥וֹר לִֽי

Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, YHWH a light to me.

זַ֤עַף יְהוָה֙ אֶשָּׂ֔א כִּ֥י חָטָ֖אתִי ל֑וֹ עַד֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָרִ֤יב רִיבִי֙ וְעָשָׂ֣ה מִשְׁפָּטִ֔י יוֹצִיאֵ֣נִי לָא֔וֹר אֶרְאֶ֖ה בְּצִדְקָתֽוֹ

I will bear the indignation of YHWH, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, I shall behold his righteousness.

וְתֵרֶ֤א אֹיַ֨בְתִּי֙ וּתְכַסֶּ֣הָ בוּשָׁ֔ה הָאֹמְרָ֣ה אֵלַ֔י אַיּ֖וֹ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֑יִךְ עֵינַי֙ תִּרְאֶ֣ינָּה בָּ֔הּ עַתָּ֛ה תִּֽהְיֶ֥ה לְמִרְמָ֖ס כְּטִ֥יט חוּצֽוֹת

Then mine enemy shall see , and shame shall cover her which said to me, Where is YHWH your God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

י֖וֹם לִבְנ֣וֹת גְּדֵרָ֑יִךְ י֥וֹם הַה֖וּא יִרְחַק חֹֽק

the day that your walls are to be built, that day shall the decree be far removed.

י֥וֹם הוּא֙ וְעָדֶ֣יךָ יָב֔וֹא לְמִנִּ֥י אַשּׁ֖וּר וְעָרֵ֣י מָצ֑וֹר וּלְמִנִּ֤י מָצוֹר֙ וְעַד נָהָ֔ר וְיָ֥ם מִיָּ֖ם וְהַ֥ר הָהָֽר

that day he shall come even to you from Assyria, and the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and mountain to mountain. the fortified cities: or, even to the fortified cities}

וְהָיְתָ֥ה הָאָ֛רֶץ לִשְׁמָמָ֖ה עַל יֹֽשְׁבֶ֑יהָ מִפְּרִ֖י מַֽעַלְלֵיהֶֽם

Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.

רְעֵ֧ה עַמְּךָ֣ בְשִׁבְטֶ֗ךָ צֹ֚אן נַֽחֲלָתֶ֔ךָ שֹׁכְנִ֣י לְבָדָ֔ד יַ֖עַר בְּת֣וֹךְ כַּרְמֶ֑ל יִרְע֥וּ בָשָׁ֛ן וְגִלְעָ֖ד כִּימֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם

Feed your people with your rod, the flock of your heritage, which dwell solitarily the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

כִּימֵ֥י צֵאתְךָ֖ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם אַרְאֶ֖נּוּ נִפְלָאֽוֹת

According to the days of your coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew to him marvellous .

יִרְא֤וּ גוֹיִם֙ וְיֵבֹ֔שׁוּ מִכֹּ֖ל גְּבֽוּרָתָ֑ם יָשִׂ֤ימוּ יָד֙ עַל פֶּ֔ה אָזְנֵיהֶ֖ם תֶּחֱרַֽשְׁנָה

The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay hand upon mouth, their ears shall be deaf.

יְלַחֲכ֤וּ עָפָר֙ כַּנָּחָ֔שׁ כְּזֹחֲלֵ֣י אֶ֔רֶץ יִרְגְּז֖וּ מִמִּסְגְּרֹֽתֵיהֶ֑ם אֶל יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֵ֨ינוּ֙ יִפְחָ֔דוּ וְיִֽרְא֖וּ מִמֶּֽךָּ

They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of YHWH our God, and shall fear because of you.

מִי אֵ֣ל כָּמ֗וֹךָ נֹשֵׂ֤א עָוֺן֙ וְעֹבֵ֣ר עַל פֶּ֔שַׁע לִשְׁאֵרִ֖ית נַחֲלָת֑וֹ לֹא הֶחֱזִ֤יק לָעַד֙ אַפּ֔וֹ כִּֽי חָפֵ֥ץ חֶ֖סֶד הֽוּא

Who a God like to you, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth mercy.

יָשׁ֣וּב יְרַֽחֲמֵ֔נוּ יִכְבֹּ֖שׁ עֲוֺֽנֹתֵ֑ינוּ וְתַשְׁלִ֛יךְ בִּמְצֻל֥וֹת יָ֖ם כָּל חַטֹּאותָֽם

He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and you will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

תִּתֵּ֤ן אֱמֶת֙ לְיַֽעֲקֹ֔ב חֶ֖סֶד לְאַבְרָהָ֑ם אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתָּ לַאֲבֹתֵ֖ינוּ מִ֥ימֵי קֶֽדֶם

You will perform the truth to Jacob, the mercy to Abraham, which you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.
